Does Scripture say anything about this; either for or against it?
If we possess "gifts"; are we to lay them down & forget about them, or are we to use them & stir them up?
Can you cite passage & verse, please?
Thanx.

In Deuteronomy 18:11,12 it warns God's people to not consult with a spiritual medium as this is detestable to God.
Interesting that you bought this up as I was most recently having this discussion about mediums who assist with solving crime. Even if someone I cared for deeply was missing and presumed dead I would not go to a medium for help.

Well, there is Jewish Shamanism, which is the equivalent Jewish version of what a Native American Indian shaman-medicine person is, a Blesser, a Healer, and a Spiritual Guide.

The Shamanic path is a path of healing, guidance and service. He/she is a person who passes on the TRADITION to the next generations, and offers services to salve the soul of the present generation.

Jewish shamanism is ancient shamanic tradition, sharing in common with many of them the belief that all of creation is alive, not just fauna and flora, but that the planets, the stones, the sun and moon, too, are living conscious beings replete with wisdom and soul.

Having said that, the Bible clearly warns to not practice in witchcraft, soothsayers, fortunetellers, ect. Spiritual guides would fall here for sure.

I think there is a fine line with it. Jesus also said "that even the stones would shout out in joy", but though they may have some sort of life, they do not have a soul. Just as followers of Christ are gifted with spiriual gifts, all is done (healing, etc.) through faith and through Christ, not from ones self.

Also, seeing that shamanism is a tradition passed down, you have to be careful. All are not appointed the same gifts and because one family member has the gift of faith and healing, or tongues, or discernment, or intercession to name a few, doesn't mean the other can just have it handed down. God appoints gifts according to his will, not according to tradition.

This is a good question, I am interested to see the other responses that I might learn what that fine line is.
