If you go looking for your soul in someone else, you see only one of two things: 1) You see the reflection of what you want to see or, 2) You see their soul as you interpret it to be. Either way, you are blind. Find your soul in your own values and morals....be the person you wish to become and your own light will shine bright.

If we regard ourselves as unique manifestations of one soul in many bodies, and if we were very perceptive and pure, we might be able to glimpse ourselves in the eyes of another. If I haven't seen my soul in another's eyes, I've gotten a glimpse, gotten insight into myself from another's patient acceptance, compassion, and understanding. I'm not sure whether it was from their eyes only or their whole demeanor. How can we be sure that looking for ourselves in others, in their eyes or whatever, isn't an intrinsic part of being human?

A beautiful and true quote Rena.
An others eyes are the mirror to their soul, not yours. If you seek to find yourself in them, then you are not an independent person, you are a part missing another to complete you. I would rather be a complete person looking for another to add and complement me. I do not need someone else to make me whole or to make me content with myself, I want (not need) someone else to enhance and share my life.
A big difference.

Definitely. No one can find himself or his characteristics exactly as they are in another person. We all do have our individual differences. Each one is unique in his own way. Therefore, we cannot expect that the other person will think and react the same way as we do; Nor can we force anyone to buy our ideas and accept them as we thought they're the best. They may be the best for us, but the other guy may not see them that way. So, we just have to respect the other's view,..and keep ours for our own.

The eyes are indeed the mirrors of the soul and it is there that you will find yourself. I always search there first.

Hi Rena,Very true words indeed.i can only live for myself.Under my own individual guidelines and rules.not by any other person life.my own soul is what makes me unique and special. The same the other way around. Two souls can emerge as one,But from the individual lovers involved. It as to be a joint effort.A willing effort too.

At a level beyond description, and beyond concept is the reality of which we are all unique manifestations. At that level, all eyes emerge from the same base, just in a different place.

fer sure. the best to look for you soul is to turn the eye inward. it will always find you though! the best way to get possessed is to open your soul up to another...cos who really knows who's inside someone?
