He told me we're dating but when he's not around me he's distant. a.ka. doesnt call. I consider us friends who go on dates, but not dating. I would have said something when he made that statemnt but I figured that once he said that he'd up and act more the part by picking up the phone but he hasn't. What should I do so I can keep him in my life but not end up walked over?

Just consider him a friend you go out with now and then and go out with anyone else who asks you as well. If he is this distant now, it can only get worse if you get serious about him, unless he changes.don't call him and wait for him to call you. If he doesn't you may be better off in the long run and you will know he is not too serious about you.

How about giving him a dose of reality: How about "I consider us friends who go on dates, but not dating."
Then explain to him the difference.

date someone else...if he sees your out and having fun with some other guy, maybe he'll get a clue...if not, then maybe your just in the friends zone anyway, and he doesnt care one way or the other.
