that it will actually make a difference to us? If we dont believe in God, then we dont believe in Heaven or Hell, so what do they expect to achieve from threatening us with something we dont believe in?

ignoramus_the_great: I will not name names thankyou, however I have been told a few times on here that I am going to burn in hell and I am asking the question as that seems to be a last resort to convert and I dont really see the point, if I dont believe why should it bother me?

i am christian and i HATE those types of "christians" they make us all loook bad.
I completely agree with you! What good is it going to do to threaten you and say mean judgemental things about you??
You have you beliefs and values already. Our job should be to accept you as who you are and who you want to be. In return you should accept that i have my own beliefs and values and respect that as i have respected yours.
I mean doesnt that sound a whole lot easier than the firey hell speech?
I try to view life and view people by seeing that everyone has something positive to add to your life...everyone has a valued lesson they can teach you and you need to accept everyone as they are and love them for who they are.
most christians will bash me but thats their perrogative and issue. I am confident with who i am and what i believe.
I am sorry you have had this experience...it really makes you hate us and its not how all of us are.

As a person who has never threatened eternal damnation or 'burning in hell' to anyone I thought I would be able to put this into perspective for you. Only radicals threaten anything. Probably Christians offer warning (because that is what they believe will happen) in a vain attempt to save souls, again - because they believe that is what they should be doing. If anyone is trying to shove any theory down your throat that you don't believe in then obviously you don't have to listen to it - or indeed feel threatened by it.

Well I think it makes them feel more worthy. But they seem to forget the passage, "judge and ye shall be judged." I am a christianpeganwiccanbuddhisthindu who believes that God is the only one that judge what is in a person's heart. As human beings we have no right to say what is or is not in the heart of others. Everyone worships and prays and believes differently from others. I really don't think that God sweats the small stuff. For he knows all....we do not....that is what makes him God.

Im christian but i dont believe in heaven or hell. i believe that when jesus returns (which will be soon because all the things predicted have happened ie: global warming, terrorism) the people who kind hearted and had faith in god will be saved and the rest will die. There's nothing more powerful than god so how could the devil be of any threat to him

I am a Christian, but I think those types are going about it all wrong. The kind of Christianity they are advertising is a "fire-escape" religion. Instead, they should be winning people with God's Love, so that people will become Christians because they love what the Lord has done for them, rather than because they are afraid of Hell.

Well said, I'm a Christian and I really hope this stops soon, and I know you don't believe but I can't tell you how good it is to know the love of Jesus.....I hope everyone finds that love some day.

Christianity requires its followers to dispel a significant degree of reason and to accept what would otherwise be a fairy tale/myth as a true fact.
In the absence of factual evidence to convince people to follow the beliefs, all that is left is appeal to emotion - e.g. fear. That is why 'the Devil" and "fire and brimstone" figure so prominently.

They believe that you will still go to hell whether or not you believe in it. It's part of their religion to push it on others. You might as well ask them not to believe in God if you're to expect them to believe that you won't go to hell because you don't believe in it, if that makes any sense!

Yeah... it's stupid. They've threatened me too for not worshiping the same god that they do, you just have to ignore them, and remember that most Christians are fine with non-Christians.
