My 6 yr old daughter has some funky smellin' feet. I've tried spraying her feet with odor eater and putting powder in her shoes, but when she tries to take her shoes off in the car I swear I would have blacked out if I hadn't opened the windows. I bought her 6 pairs of new shoes with ventillation, but that didn't work either. What else can I do. ....and yes, we wash her feet with soap (in between toes). HELP!!!

PLEASE don't use bleach, comet or any other TOXIC and caustic substance on the body. Make sure her shoes dry out for at least 24 hours. 48 hours is much better. Use socks which contain X-Static product if possible. Use wool socks or Cool-max socks for BETTER wicking away of sweat and less odor retention than plain old Cotton Socks. If you must use cotton socks, have her change the socks once or twice a day or more... wash in warm or hot if possible and do NOT bleach them...they will smell worse after bleaching! Have her wash her feet with a good gentle soap with vitamin E, zinc or peppermint. Dr Bronner's is a good soap. Some people including me use a gentle dandruff shampoo(head and shoulders type) on their feet. It contains zinc and removes oils but NOT too much of them. Might be worth a try for ya! A zinc supplement and/or B- complex supplement may be in order BUT please check with Family doc/Pediatrician first!

BTW----Those "Crystal" Rock products esp the sprays didn't work for me unless it contained Zinc.

Buy two pairs of new shoes, put odor eaters in each pair of shoes, buy all white Cotton socks, rotate the shoes every other day so they have one day to air out between wearing them. Soak feet each night. That should do it!

I found the link above...interesting.

Baking soda works wonders. (worked great for my son)
Just sprinkle it in her shoes and let dry completely. Make sure also she is wearing socks. (cotton - usually white)
Also when nothing else works, put her shoes in a plastic bag and put in freezer overnight or up to 12 hours. I know this sounds horrid, but bacteria can't survive in these temperatures. The cold actually kills odor eating bacteria. Final note: Make sure she also dries her feet as well. Also I've found that placing shoes on a shoe rack helps them to dry better. (just airs them out)

Try to get her shoes with natural (leather) linings and/or have her wear socks with her shoes.

My DS is the same way (especially with sandals or other shoes worn without socks). We *have* to get leather-lined sandals or >yikes!< I guess they "breathe" more than man-made materials. Even ventilation holes in man-made materials don't help.

She might have athlete's foot or some other foot condition that causes her feet to be extra bad. Talk to her pediatrician to see if he can run some cultures to see if there's a fungus or bacteria that could be doing it.

lamisil may be effective, but expensive, - see link

also, you may try a temporary diet of fennel/fenugreek - an herb shop will know which is the effective.
