whats all this about not haveing auto foucs on the nikon d40.When i tryed it at jessops i was useing auto foucs

The D40 has auto focus. However, auto focus will only work with the newer lenses (AF-S & AF-I) with the focus motor in the lens.

Older lenses which use the focus motor in the camera body will not auto focus on the D40. You can use the older lenses in the manual camera mode. If you have older Nikon lenses, you might be better off with one of the other models that have a focus motor in the camera body.

Refer to the user manual. It has a lens compatibility chart in the "Technical Notes" section of the manual (page 97). You can download the manual from Nikon's web site.

It Has It!! I'm A Professional Photographer And It's One Of The Camera's I Use!! Just Press The Shot Button Down Halfway And Wait For It To Auto Focus!!

It has it and your camera should come with a manual! I use it in my photoshoots outdoors but am gettin ready to retire it! Great especially for beginers
