The most logical answer of course is "jesus would never ask that". But hypothetically speaking, what if you were alone in your backyard and all of a sudden jesus floated down out of the sky and told you that he chose you spread the word of his return.

He claims that you have been chosen to rid the world of as many sinners as possible. He says you will not be punished and that you are guaranteed a spot in heaven. He even levitates and does other magical things to prove that he is really jesus.

Would you go out an kill for him if you really felt deep inside that it was real?

Christians are not chosen to rid the world of sinners. Christians are chosen to spread the Gospel. What you are saying is of a personal nature which is common to the natural man. We are not natural we are spiritual. God takes care of his own. The world thinks hypothetically. the Christian thinks spiritually because we are lead by the spirit of God. Can God kill himself no. We are not on a suicide mission. We are on a mission from God. Not to rid the world of anything but change the way people think. You are confounded in your thinking. If you knew Jesus was real, why would you kill the very person that can save you. Only a drowning victim would do that. Yelling help, help, and pushing the one that could swim you to safety down in the water. God does not bless no mess.

You've answered your own question

"the most logical answer of course is "jesus would never ask that."

Do you want people to give you answers that break the simple rules of logic?

One basic rule of logic is that something cannot be both "a" and "non a" at the same time in the same way. Let me give you an example
A shirt can be both red ("a") and cotton ("b") But it cannot be both red ("a") and blue ("non a")

So, if jesus, by his perfect unchanging nature demands us not to commit murder, he could not then command us to murder
Because jesus could not be both
a: the biblical jesus
and non a: a jesus different fromt the bible

Regardless, some could argue that scripture does not say "do not kill" but instead to "do not murder" Which begs the question: if jesus told you to do it, would it be murder? And if it's not murder, then it's not unscriptural....

wouldn't it be fun to be gods vigilante?

You know, I personally can't reconcile any kind of violence with the Jesus of the gospels. But at the same time, I understand that I don't understand everything. And one of the things I don't understand is the idea that people in history HAVE taken up arms to defend their faith. I'm not talking about the Crusades, especially the later Crusades. But maybe the best example is Charles Martel, the King who saved Europe and defeated the attacking Muslims in France, pushing them back into Spain. I'm not prepared to say he wasn't a Christian, or that he got it wrong; certainly he fought a defensive war, albeit a war nonetheless. The world definitely wouldn't be the same without him and his fellow warriors, and who knows what would have become of Christianity? But I personally can't comprehend it.

Peace to you.

Technically the "non-believing" Jews killed Jesus, non-believing meaning individuals that did now not have confidence in him. For some unusual reason the NT has them going to the Romans to have the execution performed even concept they had the authority, and additionally the Babylonian Talmud has a connection with Jesus being incarcerated for forty days in the past being hung or stoned. Then for around 200 years the Christians have been persecuted for dissimilar motives until eventually they grew to become the "real" faith while they rotated and began persecuting others. The Christian persecution in lots of circumstances relied on the perspectives of the present chief and in lots of circumstances they secure the Jews -- and others circumstances now not.

How would I know who for sure was a sinner? If they have asked forgiveness, then they are no longer a sinner, right? How would I know that? I wouldn't kill for any delusion no matter what because I would be held accountable here on this earth and would spend the rest of my life locked up at a looney farm.

No. He's no different now that he was when he stopped Peter. All people are loved by God, Jesus desired to try and change the heart of those even those that would try to kill Jesus or actually did kill Jesus. God wishes not to lose a single one. Killing them is not the way Jesus desired that his followers tackle the problems of disbelievers.

Nowhere in the Bible deos it say Christians have to be chumps. Jesus said to turn your cheek in a moment of anger. That is just being smart. Because it also says a fool gives full vent to his rage. And beats a man to death for calling him a name, and spends 10 years of his Life in prison.
But Jesus never said to let somebody knock all the teeth out of your mouth because he doesn't like the way you look. That's mans foolishness. And I would fight to help a person wrongly being harmed. And would feel justified if it cost that hateful person his Life.

Jesus gave us a promise when he said to Peter," put away your sword, those who take the sword will die by the sword." No you can not kill for Jesus but if you think you can... be ready to die. Then you get the ask him directly if you did the right thing. Remember He might not like it if you already have heard the answer.

If He told me to kill as many sinners as possible, I guess I'd have to start with myself, so his plan would be foiled before it ever got off the ground. If I didn't start with myself first and proceeded to "kill as many sinners" as possible (rolling my eyes at this point), who would be left? Really. Think about the absurdity of such hypotheticals before asking them.

Who would you kill for?
