Well, most are thin models, because that's what's hot. But, if you don't want a thin flat screen, then that means that you can probably pick up a steal in one of the old chunky ones. They do come in models that are HDTV and have flat screens... by that I mean that the display is flat but the box is still big and deep (or hereafter, fat). The advantage of a flat display is that you don't see a reflection of every window and light behind you while you're trying to watch your favorite show.
You can probably get a better deal on a "fat" TV, but I would make sure that I got an HDTV flat display model that was widescreen. Unless you just really don't care about staying up to date techology wise, then just get whatever looks good to you in the store.

No, in the last few weeks I've been in a Walmart, Target, and Kmart. All have had non-flat screen CRT TVs (with digital tuners) on display. These are the cheapest sets only, for a little bit more money, you can get a flat screen CRT TV.

Do you remember Betamax?
Do you remember 8-track stereos?
Do you remember DAT tapes?
Do you remember laser-discs?
Do you remember the Commodore 64?
All history, because of progress - the same as the CRT television.
