All the time? Is it because it'll make you discouraged & give up once you start exercising & find yourself gaining muscle weight?

Yeah it's true. But it should be fine as long as you realize that a low number on the scale doesn't necessarly mean weight loss. It usually means water loss.
And vice versa with a higer number on the scale-muscle or water gain.

Pay more attention to your body and the way it looks, rather than relying on a number to tell you wether or not you're in shape.
A good way to follow weight loss is to look at dress sizes, or body measurements. Those are usually more accurate.
Also, try weighing yourself once a week or so, first thing when you wake up.
Weighing yourself on a daily basis will just make you feel discuraged or fed up with the constant fluctuations.

Once a week and make sure it is on the same day and at roughly the same time. Keep a record of your weight so that you can keep track of any trends (hopefully a downward trend). Don't be downhearted if you're up a bit one week because your body weight fluctuates all the time. It is about the long-term goal. Set yourself a time limit to lose your weight and you'll see if you're on course and can adjust your program to suit (ie. if you're not, you can up your cardio by 10-20%). Remember, as well, that training will also put on muscle which weighs a large amount so remember to take into account how your body looks and feels - not just how much you weigh. If you're feeling slimmer and fitter but weigh the same then feel satisfied that what you are doing is working! Good luck!

Yes when you are trying to loes weight you should way yourself at either the start or the end of ever week. You will also get a more acurate result if you weigh yourself in the morning.

There are many reasons for this just little things really such as how much you have drank and how much food is inside you and also how many times you have been to the toilet all can effect your weight a great deal. So you could weigh your self in the morning and then have a 4lbs diffrence at night!

Sometimes on a day to day basis you may weigh a little higher than another day. I would suggest weighing once a week only. You will also gain muscle weight if you are working out a lot, too.

I find that to be true because sometimes it's discouraging if you haven't lost anything when u do. I don.t weigh myself anymore. You can tell how your clothes fit better than if weighing yourself....elisayn

yes its true and the same goes for usually all types of measurements - if someone gains weight that could mean they gained muscle not fat, but that person might think they got fatter when they really didn't
