All I know is that miraculously, an iced mocha latte always makes me feel better! And a glazed donut doesn't hurt either!

I admit that I do use caffeine as a counter agent to my meds when I need to be alert, but what you describe is a normal effect of caffeine plus sugar. I suggest that you drink coffee in moderation or even better, at social occasions with friends and then you can buy the REALLY good stuff. Caffeine withdrawal is hell but its better than being addicted.

Yes, I think so. I take risperidone and diazepam, which are both very sedative. I find that after I've had a cup of coffee or two, that I feel more alert, have more energy, and my mood improves slightly. If I have too much though, I start to feel quite anxious.

Try cocoa too. Yum... it is awesome!
Chocolate contains a lot of sugar and fat, so it's not so healthy, but try hot cocoa: a spoon-full of cocoa + hot water and without sugar. You can have it with hot milk instead, but I prefer water. It feels so good, and somewhat like coffee makes you perk up. But it has only a little caffeine.
I'm sort of addicted, and proud of that. ;-)

The best antidepressant wich isn't medical drug is CHOCOLATE wich contains LECITHYN. Coffeetin from coffee is good as antidreaming substance but cup of coffee can make you feel better (or happier) and it is just your self feelin' (means it couldn't be general feelin' for all peoples - somebody drink coffee just because of habit). Im my case cigarette is obligate because of discovering of some new idea line. However just keep to enjoy your cup of coffee, your heart will works better. Veradisca & Best Regards, Neven.

I agree with one or two of the others - it is a depressant and causes anxiety and stress which can lead to more depression. Reduce the coffee intake, replace with bottled water or even tap water and start eating bananas because they have natural anti depressant in them.

Hmm, addiction sounds depressing! Ditch the addiction, surely you'll feel better.
