add religious propaganda to US money in the 1950s?

Did this propaganda put a stop to communism in the Soviet Union the next day?

Knowing it's their mission to evangelize, do you think Christians will use any unscrupulous shred of an opportunity to spread their propaganda?

Well, officially, no state declared atheism as its official religion until 1961 (and it was Albania). So take that as you will.

Are you guys STILL at THIS one??? Get OFF the "separation of church and state" and our money, bit, will ya??? The first time "In God We Trust" appeared on US Currency was WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY BACK in the 1800's (after the Civil War, in fact)... Communists were just being BORN at that time!!

Furthermore, the Pledge of Allegiance had "Under God" inserted in the 1950's due to the "communist scare."

Put a stop to communism in the SU the NEXT DAY?!??!? That was not the INTENT of "In God We Trust." What are you expecting, that just because the USA says "BOO!" to some other country, they're going to jump and hide in the corner, instantly and automatically? GET REAL!!!

That last "question" really shows your bias, so horribly anti-Christian, it is unbelieveable! Calling evangelism an "unscrupulous shred of an opportunity," and the Gospel as being "propaganda" just shows YOUR true colors.

You are not asking a real question here. You are attacking Christianity in a barely veiled "question" about money and the US motto. You don't want a REAL answer, either. You are looking for "Yes-men" answers. SORRRRRREEEEEE... I won't and can't give that to you. Anyway...

Have a blessed day.

The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (????? ?????????? ????????????????? ??????????) not at all had the be conscious "Democratic" (???????????????) as component to its call. I certainly suspect that the Cold War was largely a religious one.

In some ways it's a good thing that the US has now found another group for their Christians to fight against. Some of us were worried that they'd start picking on increasingly secular Europe - but they went for Islam instead, thanks to Bin Liner.

Which may give Europe time to get its act together and become an organised superpower before you lot start a war with us.

At this website is the supposed reason for this. I do not support it, and would love to see it removed. However, that would be too much to expect in a country where religious freedom really means freedom only if you are religious.

The whole point of Christianity is to tell people to worship "your" God. I think this was the first attempt by Christians to evangelize the US.

Last year I lobbied Congress to have a different WWE Diva on each different denomination, but they wouldn't listen. Finally, the Capitol Police manhandled me out of the halls of power. So much for my political career. Typical bastards.

Yes, but don't forget the government's role...

Religions have always been used to promote superiority and nationalism...they work hand in hand for oppression, bigotry, and war.
