Total annual cost of illegals on taxpayers exceeds $1 billion .

LA County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich has announced that a new report shows illegal aliens and their families in Los Angeles County collected over $35 million in welfare and food stamp allocations in July.

In the report, illegals are said to have collected nearly $20 million in welfare assistance for July 2007 and an additional $15 million in monthly food stamp allocations for an estimated annual cost of $440 million.

“Illegal immigration continues to have a devastating impact on Los Angeles County taxpayers,”said Antonovich. “In addition to $220 million for public safety and $400 million for healthcare, the $440 million in welfare allocations bring the total cost to County taxpayers that exceeds $1 billion a year -- this does not include the skyrocketing cost of education.”

Billions are wired back home to Mexico. How many of the people who wire good money out of the country then apply for financial assistance programs?

Yes, and it just keeps on growing. Luckily, the American people seem to be waking up. Illegal immigration hurts those who can't afford to be hurt. It hurts the poorest among us. Illegals take away from monies that should go to the American poor. They take jobs that have supported poor families for generations. They are hugely responsible for the closing of many urban hospitals. Programs for their children cost the children of American poor.

Those in the middle and upper class WON'T see the effects that the poor do. That doesn't mean that we should turn our backs on the plight of our own poor. Minorities in our own country...our own citizens need help while illegals take take take.

Wake up!

What this appears to come down to is the choice between providing for the have-nots at taxpayer expense, or withholding those benefits and riding out the stormy consequences of a lower class that will, for a time, become quite desperate to survive. Ironically, the older I get and the longer I work in the social service sector, the more inclined I become to agree with the latter option, although I'm not sure how it would get resolved. Forcing people to either die or become responsible for themselves would bring about a long, difficult weening period and certainly change the image of the U.S. all over the world, and many would suggest we've downgraded to developing country status.

The American Legion magazine (October 2007) has an article every American should read: "Southern Discomfort" by James Jay Carfano, at the Heritage Foundation. He maintains that there are 12,000,000 illegal aliens in the U.S. (about 1 in every 25 people!) and states "that if 10 million adult illegal immigrants in the United States were granted amnesty, the net retirement cost to govenment - benefits munus taxes - could exceed $2.6 trillion." That come out to $260,000 per illegal.
There is not one single net benefit to illegals in our country; they are a detriment to society, to our economy, to our way of life, to our country's security, to our language and everything else.
In simple terms, they should be treated as an invading army and dealt with accordingly.

That's just the costs that we can account for. And that is just LA County what is the amount for California? The nation?
So why shouldn't we uphold our federal immigration laws? Why should we give welfare and other monies to the freeloaders that violate federal law to come here? Why does this country reward the criminals and penalize the rest?

Thank you for the link. It is ill spent money. For those in here that think it justifies the spending in Iraq or isn't as bad as, whatever the insinuation is...how about the fact that more Americans have lost their lives to illegals right here in their own country since 9/11 than in Iraq...We need our troops home to take care of the terrorism occuring on our own soil, on a daily basis. here is a link to read.

"Twelve Americans are murdered every day by illegal aliens, according to statistics released by Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y. If those numbers are correct, it translates to 4,380 Americans murdered annually by illegal aliens. That's 21,900 since Sept. 11, 2001.

Total U.S. troop deaths in Iraq as of last week were reported at 2,863. Total U.S. troop deaths in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan during the five years of the Afghan campaign are currently at 289, according to the Department of Defense.

But the carnage wrought by illegal alien murderers represents only a fraction of the pool of blood spilled by American citizens as a result of an open border and un-enforced immigration laws.

While King reports 12 Americans are murdered daily by illegal aliens, he says 13 are killed by drunk illegal alien drivers – for another annual death toll of 4,745. That's 23,725 since Sept. 11, 2001."

What a country. Where else in the world can someone sneak into a country and immediately begin to suck off of it? I have no problem with someone migrating here legally. Lets sneak into Mexico in mass and see if their government will support us.

California wants to have sanctuary cities, I'd like to see the government deny federal funds, see how long they want illegals to stay.

Yeah and it makes me sick. Not to mention the number of Americans that die at the hands of illegals every year. That's why my vote will be given only to someone that is tough on illegal immigration
