what is "pretty"?

Question

humans say one specific look is called "pretty"..
but what is pretty?? I mean.. in the olden days, pale and fat people where "pretty"

It is true that different social settings and circumstances often determine what is attractive. Interestingly enough, and don't most of us women wish it was this way today, it used to be more attractive if a woman was portly. Folks were generally very poor in past days and a fat woman meant her family had money because they could afford to feed her. Look at European art from the 16-18th centuries. Venus was a total lardie. But she is still today considered gorgeous. Marilyn Monroe was a size 12, which would be obese by today's cigarette-thin-model standards. Generally, in the face at least, proportion and symmetry determine beauty, although unconciously. In other words, bug eyes and bulbous noses are not considered as attractive as "normal" looking eyes and noses. But we don't exactly KNOW why we find someone more attractive than someone else. If you compare two women, how would you specifically point out what makes one more attractive than the other? It would make you stop and think.

for me it's not, pale people don't get recognized because they are pale, fat people, even the cutest ones are not that attractive because you can definitely see that they don't have discipline in eating, fat is different from chubby

it depends on the eye of the beholder, but pale people, not they're not pretty, anything that is kinda inactive isn't noticed

I think it depends on every individual cuz i know a guy who prefers tan girls who r medium sized and then i know another guy who likes pale skinny girls that r flat chester and have thick eyebrows it depends on every person but to me personality counts the most and whenever u love someone to you they'll always be more then pretty but beautiful

It's in the eye of the beholder, but we go through what is popular at the time and call that pretty usually.

i think everyone is pretty there is always something about them that you could say .. yea thats pretty
but beautiful thats different
its hard to describe but some people just are! and its not their fault...
but i wouldnt worry about looks inside counts more!

PRETTY IS ONLY WHAT YOU PRESEVE IT TO BE. ACCORDING TO THE TABLOIDS IT IS THICKER EYE BROWS, GREAT MAKE-UP AND SKINNY. BUT REALLY, WHO ARE THEY TO TELL US WOMAN WHAT PRETTY IS? THEY ARE JUST LOOKING TO SELL! NOT TO MENTION THEY HAVE TO AIRBRUSH EVERY PICTURE THEY PUT IN IT BECAUSE NOBODY IS AS "PRETTY" AS THOSE STUPID THINGS WANT THEM TO BE.
