religion is not something to have as an obligation. you should really become a baptist if you want to and if yo believe in the baptist principles. religion is something very important and it's up to you to chose the one you believe in.you shoud talk to your father seriously and tell him that converting to baptism would make you happy.

If you are Catholic, you already possess the fullness of truth and the fullness of grace. Why settle for anything less, just because you misunderstand a few issues? The best advice possible would be to study a bit and find out why your perception of certain issues are wrong. Then you will be an informed Catholic instead of a confused Catholic. If possible you should sign up for an RCIA course, which will help you attain a fuller understanding and appreciation for the one true Church founded by Jesus Christ. Leaving Christ's Church for watered down, simplistic manmade denominational religion would be a tragic mistake.

What is it about the catholic church you do not like? I converted from Baptist to Orthodox. In fact, a large portion of our church are Baptist converts. Orthodox is the church that Catholics came from. I would recommend checking out your local Orthodox church.

I was a catholic myself when I was younger. I never felt comfortable in the catholic church or their beliefs. When I was 21 I was given a modern day english Bible and finally understood!! I realize that the catholic church was teaching me man made rules instead of the Bible. They were adding things that should have been added. They were hiding things that should not have been hid.
I am not saying that catholics are not saved. I am saying that the catholic doctrine is in serious error. Catholicism teaches traditions of men instead of what God wants us to be taught. The ONLY way to be taught is straight from the Bible, not made up rules, not man made restrictions etc. The authors of the Bible wrote it when God told them what to write. The Bible is called "God breathed" meaning the true author is God.
Praying to saints or Mary is not what God said. This is called idolatry. The only person we are to pray to is God, and at the end of the prayer say "in Jesus' name" because Jesus was God in the flesh. By saying "in Jesus' name" it shows our faith in Jesus and who He really was.
A good place to help you find a church that will help you learn the Bible, please see www.gotquestions.org
It is a site that answers many questions regarding different religions, cults, churches that teach in error etc.
Also you have my permission to contact me if you would like to talk. I have been saved for 14 yrs since I was 21.
God bless!!

I have been both baptist and catholic in my life.
I decided that if god really wanted to communicate with humans, he/she would have given us evidence of that in scriptures that are unambiguous and intelligible to every human being without the aid of charlatans (known as priests, pastors, mullahs, imams and the like).
I finally rejected the idea of a god fashioned along the lines of the judeo-christian-muslim conception. While I accept the possibility of god, that conception is built on false premises.
My advice. Dig deeper than religion.

Only you can decide what is right for you. If you choose to stay catholic because of your dad and you don't agree with it, most likely one day you will resent him for it. And that will only make matters worse.
