I guess they're just just lazy. I have never been able to figure out why people find it necessary to throw soda cans, fast food wrappers, etc. all over the place. It's odd, because it's not like trash cans are a rarity in our society.

Good question. I live in an HOA (homeowners association) and the adults of the neighborhood like to concern themselves with whether my lawn is green enough. Yet... every year when school starts, I notice a drastic increase in the amount of trash that appears in my flowerbeds. Why should I bother to worry about the appearance of the neighborhood if they can't teach their kids to do the same?

If you live in or around New York City and it's suburbs, you will see it is litter everywhere. I guess people are not getting paid enough to pick up litter off the streets, that's why they are not motivated to clean.

they litter because they are too lazy to throw the garbage away in a trashcan. and they do not respect other people and their property.

I see them as damaged people - i.e. they haven't been brought up correctly.
