No point, really, in my opinion.
I think there is a God, or intelligenct energy, that began life and created my soul.
Only after death, when we cross over, will we have the knowledge of God's purpose.
I believe He does not get involved with us here in any way.
Icarus is one of my dearest friends. He believes that this is all there is. I believe that we live multiple lives. Talk about total opposites. But, you know what, we care for and respect each other and embrace our differences.
If only there could be more acceptance in the world, we might truly find peace.

Yep Odin loves me... last month it was Zeus. Actually, I have absolutely no reason to believe your god gave me anything. When my parents gave me life, I and others could prove my parents existence. They didn't keep telling me "a unicorn and a dragon are really your parents... you should just believe it" No, my education, what I learned, was my doing. My hard work is Mine as well. Why is it that people like you point out good things in others and claim them for YOUR god, but when it's something bad.... oh no, we have to take credit for the bad in order to make your god look good. If your god takes all the credit when really he didn't do it, then he sure isn't worthy of any kind of worship. And I'm betting if you switched the word "god" and put "man" in there, YOU wouldn't give over the credit either.

Real meaning comes from living for a real purpose. Real purpose requires God. Here is what atheist Bertram Russell said about purpose:
“Unless you assume a God, the question of life’s purpose is meaningless.” –Bertrand Russell (Nobel Laureate, mathematician and philosopher)
If God exists, He must have put our need for meaning into our human nature to point us to seek Him. Seeking God and finding God is our purpose. "The chief end of man is to glorify God AND enjoy him forever".

On the contrary, a belief in an afterlife is often used to demean this life and make it just an insignificant prelude, or a test of some sort, rather than recognising that this is the only life we will ever have.
