i'm in a depression (and therapy) and I still think about suicide quite a bit. Many times a day, actually. How common in this? What can I do -- it doesn't seem like such a terrible option. What do you do when life is just too much? when you feel this tormented?

You say you are in therapy, do you tell your therapist these things? If not, you really need to. A therapist cannot fix what they dont' know about. If your therapist hasn't helped you and you have told them everything, you may need different, better professional help. Whatever is wrong in your life, you being dead will not help.

i understand your feelings when you say that it doesn't seem like a terrible option. however there was a person on yahoo answers that said her friend shot himself and it didn't kill him and he had wished that he hadn't done it but then he did die shortly there after. i thought that this was a very powerful statement, because it is true. when you think about it what you really want to do is make the pain stop and death is the only way that you can think of to make it stop. there are other ways. you say that you are in therapy but are you on meds? if you are maybe they are not working for you and you may need to talk to your doc and get a change. have told your therapist about these constant thoughts? they can help you through these thoughts. when you feel this way maybe call a suicide hotline. if you are really wanting to do it then go down to an er or have someone take you and they can help you get through it. remember death is a permanent solution to a temporary problem and people who have attempted will tell you that they wish they hadn't and are glad that they lived. hope that this helps

It takes a while for medications and therapy to work and during that time you can still have recurring thoughts of death and suicide. It gets less as you get better and then not thinking about it at all as a solution or option. I know it took me a while (months) before I stopped thinking about it while depressed. Continue with the therapy; I found that the best in helping me turn my thinking around.

We all think about it, I mean "what comes next" is the big question in life. For all we know it's quite nice, so why be afraid of it?

But on the other hand, it's inevitable anyway, so why rush it? If you don't like your life, do something to change it, not end it.

Meditate, learn self hypnosis, learn astral projection and lucid dreaming. Turn your brain from an enemy into your best friend. There's a million ways to do it, and they are all worth it.

Find Jesus, find Buddha. Become a scientologist for crying out loud. Suicide is just unimaginative and boring.

Go live in a cave and be a hermit, but don't just die.

Sorry you are unhappy and depressed. Try to find something to keep your mind off of your problems. Tell your therapist how you are feeling. Try to make the most of each day and stay busy.

I hope you are telling your therapist that you are thinking like this. This is very dangerous. When I am really overwhelmed I cry a lot. I also get on medication to help with this.

I feel sorry for you due to your depression. Listen to some happy, New Wave music and smoke some good weed. That is a great cure.
