According to Freud, everbody has OCD symptoms. We all find comfort in meaningless ritual at one time or another. A set of OCD symptoms can only be considered a disorder if it interferes with your ability to work or love. That's what is meant by "nervous breakdown." If your OCD prevents you from living a normal life it is already a nervous breakdown. The purpose of medication or psychotherapy is to restore your ability to function.

A "nervous breakdown" would be different for everyone. OCD medication helps to treat and prevent severe episodes of that----not an emotional breakdown.
If you feel totally out of control, then you either need to call 911 OR call your doctor right away.
