I own a pom, chi, and german sheppard/mix, my roommate owns a chi/mix. (I know, a zoo!) She works M-F 9 - 6 and I work M - TH 1 - 12. A friend stops by some days and lets them out. The smaller ones are good about holding their wee wee, but the german sheppard is still a puppy and uses the bathroom in one certain room and the smaller dogs have followed behind her and it's that one room, bad thing is.. it's carpet! We just moved into a house so we haven't built a fence yet. What is the best remedy to get the horrible smell out and to maybe keep them confined to the kitchen (it's a large kitchen) during the day? Or some good pet gates brand, good for a hyper german sheppard, also. Serious answers only, pretty please! :) Thank you!!

Thank you so far. In a way, I'm against crating because I'm never sure if a friend will come back and let them out. Thanks for all your concerns and answers so far though!!

Nature's Miracle for the carpet.
Crate train the dogs. Have the friend come let them out for awhile while you are at work.

I am a firm believer that dogs should be kenneled when their humans are away from home for an extended period of time live school and work. There are too many dangers lurking in a house for our pets when we are away. Your small breed dogs could fall from the furniture, possibly breaking a leg or hip. If you have a two story home, there is the danger of one of them falling down the stairs. These household accidents can leave your pet crying and in pain for hours waiting for your help. There is also the danger of your large breed puppy knocking something over and being injured. I strongly recommend crating your dogs, it not only makes them safe, it saves on the ruined carpeting.

I would say get that kennel built ASAP. You could try kenneling them inside the house each in their own kennel. Or I bought baby gates, they seem sturdier and keep mine confined to just the kitchen when I am going. Make sure they have plenty of water.
As far as getting out the smell from your carpet - only thing to do really is to remove it, clean the floor underneath with bleach, and replace the carpet or lay linoleum (probaby spelled wrong).
Good luck. It is always good to hear from people who take care of their pets.

baby gates work great to confine the dogs to a certin room in the house (such as a kitchen with lenolium or ceramic tile). this will contain the dogs until you can get the yard fenced in you may need to stack 2 , one on top of another in the doorway depending on the size of you dogs). I had a cat that had bladder issues and he went on the carpets and such. we tryed all the home remedys and all of the commercal remedys as well until we found one product that worked. go to your vets office and they will be able to recomend and sell to you a good prouduct that WILL work to get rid of the smell. it may be more pricey than those probucts found at the big box stores, but it WILL get rid of the smell and it is cheaper than replacing the carpets.

For the smell, I'm not sure it will work for dog pee, but I have used watered down vinegar for cat pee. Just spray it on the area and let it dry. The room will smell like vinegar for a while, but that smell leaves.
If you don't want to crate your dogs (some owners feel its cruel, but I'm not opposed to it) just get a baby gate from a store to keep them confined in one room. Just make sure you put plenty of toys in there to keep them amused while your at work or they might start to destroy things out of bordom

a three month old canine remains a puppy, perchance she might want to ask to have it interior till this is grown up?what's the backyard like? How busy is the realm? provide the canine a kennel, so it has someplace to safeguard, and also you would possibly want to placed blankets interior so as that the canine can pass in if it receives too chilly. verify the blankets on a daily basis to confirm they're no longer moist or grimy. confirm there's a sturdy fence and no-you receives in off the line, and make .certain the canine continuously has water and sufficient room to stroll round. you should do a verify of the backyard to confirm this is thoroughly secure. Mastiffs are vast dogswho want to be properly-behaved, and this is going to take diverse paintings to confirm he's thoroughly socialised if he's residing outdoors. She might want to take him for two times-on a daily basis walks, and this is a sturdy idea to spend as a lot time outdoors with him as plausible (she might want to do her homework outdoors, for instance, and sit down outdoors with a e book instead of interior on the television). i understand a few chuffed, healthful outdoor canine yet they stay to inform the tale farms the position the vendors are continuously outdoors.

I think that maybe you could put them in like the garage during the day and still have your friend stop by and let them out every once in a while. Also you may try using something like this while they are in the garage:
