Hi,
That's a very good question. The owner gets the money. Usually in the driver contract, the driver gets a percentage of the winnings. Most driver contracts work like this...a base salary for the year, say $1 million, plus a percentage of both the winnings and the souvenir sales, probably like 50% of winnings and 50% of souvenier sales. Here's an exerpt from a lawsuit to explain the point...

According to the lawsuit, Wimmer was being paid $600,000 for the 2004 season, $900,000 for 2005 and $1.2 million for 2006. He also received 45 percent of prize money as well as 33.3 percent of royalties from team merchandise.

If I made this too confusing, please feel free to e-mail me and I would be glad to explain it in simpler terms.

the popular reason is that differenct race tracks furnish diverse quantities of money. Jamie McMurray has the main income on the music genuine now. it somewhat is because of the fact Jamie McMurray have been given around $a million.5 million, and Dale Jr. won a 2nd ($a million.a million million), which became plenty greater beneficial than the different payouts in that the third place vehicle basically have been given around $800,000. He has stored a suitable 15-sixteen vehicle all races different than California jointly as different drivers had issues and as a result, much less money earned. additionally, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. is the main widely used driving force in NASCAR and he gets great sponsorships and merchandise sales and facilitates NASCAR in acceptance, and because he's with Hendrick, he in all probability gets a boosted payout. wish I helped!

It completely depends on the contract the driver signed. Usually, a driver gets a base salary, and sometimes his contract calls for him to get a percentage of the teams winnings. Often, there are bonuses if the driver wins a race or make the top ten in points or wins the championship. But it all dependent on the contractual agreement.

I'm sure some of that winnings goes to the driver's favorite charity and I'm sure sponsorship get their fair share as well.
