Each "nut" has its own word:
walnut = nuez
peanut = maní or cacahuete
cashew nut = castaña
hazelnut = avellana
almond = almendra
...and so on.
If you want to talk about "nuts" in general, the expression to use is "frutos secos" (dry fruits).
