Preferably in Baton Rouge but surrounding areas is fine too. I have a friend who recently lost her kitten to cancer so I'm getting her a new one for her birthday November 16th (I know I'm kinda far but I want to make sure its a great kitten). Her old one was REALLY mean. I'm gonna look I'm newspapers but I was asking if there are any other places I could look?

First I would check your local Newspaper, then the Animal Shelter in your area ( but you will have to pay a Adoption Fee, so that is not Free!), next try Craigslist in your area. Go online and search " Free Kittens". There is alot of kittens around I am sure you will find just the right one for your friend and she will be so grateful for her new addition

There really is no such thing as a 'free' kitten. Kittens should be a lifetime commitment, and require care, etc. If she is happy to get a kitten as a gift, your best choice is to give one to her that has already had a vet check up to make sure it is healthy, etc. But you never want to just give a live animal to another person without them knowing about it.

I have provided a link of places that will have cats.

Check in pet section of the local newspaper (also be a website for the newspaper). These 'free' kittens have not seen vet, tested for worms, nor shots.

Check in yellow pages (also a yellowpage website) of local area for animal shelters. You would pay minimal price for kitten but would have had been vet approved.

Remember there's no such thing as a "free" pet. Make sure your friend has the financial means to take proper care of the kitten, such as vet visits, spay/neuter operation, etc...

Go to www.petfinder.com. You can look up animals all over the country in shelters and rescues who need homes.
