Sometimes these places may interview right away...it's happened to me in the past...so while you may not dress to the nines, I would go a little further than jeans and a tshirt. Chinos and a nice top maybe.

I work as a security officer for a state funded employment agency in Texas and OH MY GOODNESS!!,you should see how some people come dressed looking for work.
Some come in like they're going to the beach or as if getting a job was an interruption of their day.
They come in with shorts, sandals,(with dirty feet),tank tops with all the tattoos showing as if they were trophies.
Oh and my favorite, the guys who wear that ball cap with the sunglasses perched on the brim thinking it looks so cool....it doesn't.
Take you hat off when you come into a building. Weren't you ever taught manners.
Dress up (no jeans) when applying for work.
Many managers, even recruiters have said that it's rare, but if they have extra time, they will interview you right there and then. Even hire you on the spot.
DO NOT wear something low where (the girls) might pop out. Wear a bra.
DO NOT wear too much make up. It's called Revlon,NOT Dutchboy.
DO NOT wear overpowering perfume. We don't need to smell you coming from the parking lot.
PLEASE make sure you have your work history written down with phone numbers and addresses and names of personal references BEFORE you get there.
Bring a pen(preferrably black) and two sharpened pencils.(Some employers have you take a psychological test in pencil.)
Bring some state issued ID(School ID will do),and your Social Security card.
Brush your teeth and use breath mints or gum. Nothing kills and interview faster than you having Horse Breath.
Look your interviewer in the eye and pay attention to what he/she is asking you.

A good rule of thumb is to dress for the job you want, not the one you have.
If you are going to fill out an application, that is your first interview. The impression you make then is the one that will be in the mind of the interviewer for your second meeting.
Even if it's sandwich shop, neatness counts. I believe that the clothes you wear define who you are. Clothes don't make the man, but they sure give the signals of who the man is inside.
Dress comfortably, professionally and neatly. Slacks vs jeans, top vs tee-shirt.

You do no have to be dressed up as in an interview but you want to look presentable and clean. Wear the jeans but find another shirt besides a T-shirt. A solid color polo, a causual button down shirt, etc.
Always put your best foot forward.

I've actually been interviewed and hired at the same time I filled out the application, so you might want to consider wearing a nice pair of pants and nice shirt. It doesn't have to be dress up, but maybe a little bit more then jeans and t-shirt. :)

I work in a business where I have to hire part time associates often. While I don't expect people to come in wearing a suit and tie, I would like to see that they are clean and well groomed. For me, jeans are fine as well as the clothing they wear isn't too revealing and they look presentable.

If you want the job dressing up is never a bad idea. Who knows they may give you an interview on the spot.

Everyone should own a pair of Khaki's or other casual dress pants. I believe that jeans are not what you wear when you want to present yourself well.

Yes, dress accordingly for the job you are applying for, have a good attitude, be friendly, smile, shake hands with a firm grip. Here's another tip: Wear blue.

first impressions are lasting impressions. If you come into my place of business for an application. I will remember what you looked like and how you represented yourself. I'm not alone in this. Small business and large business rely on their employees. Your looks and dress are part of it.
