Will a home entertainment system with up converting to 1080P up convert to 720P successfully. The knuckle heads at best buy had no clue, making me think what they re paid for. I have a lcd 720P TV and getting a up converter. it says 1080P, does that include 720P or will it say it on the box.

If the player can upconvert to 1080p, it can certainly upconvert to 720p.

However, your TV is perfectly capable in taking 480i and upconverting it to its native resolution (and maybe better); so I would try all 3 possible settings from your player:

480i ---> Let the TV do ALL the deinterlacing/scaling
480p ---> The player does deinterlacing, the TV does scaling
720p --> The DVD player does everything

I'm assuming you are referring to a "upconvert" dvd player. If you are, you will be able to set your players dvd settings to 720p. IF NOT, just go into the settings of whatever you bought and change the resolution to 720p. Any dvd player, satellite, cable box will allow you to set the resolution to your set.
