cards but I don't really understand them. For example, if I get a 512 mb or bigger card and use it, can I then upload those photos to Flickr and reuse that same card or is it just a one time use thing on the cards? Thanks for any help.

Hello,

Memory cards are reusable and virtually indestructable. You can use them over and over again. You can download your pictures onto a computer with a card reader and store your pictures that way and then you can upload them to flickr if you choose to. After you have transfered the pictures from your memory card to the computer make sure to erase your pictures from the card so you can take more pictures. You must also reformat your card from time to time. This erases any stray information that may be left on the card when you just do a simple erase. Check you camera settings for this option. Remember though, if you reformat your card, you erase anything still on the card.

As for memory card size, the bigger the card size, the more pictures you can hold on one card. A 1gig card will hold more pictures than a 512 card and a 2 gig card will hold more pictures than a 1 gig card. It also depends on the quality ( number of megapixels) you are shooting with. If you use 6 megapixels you won't get as many pictures on a memory card as if you use 4 megapixels. You can change these settings on your camera. If you are taking pictures that are really important (a wedding, a party) you want to use the highest resolution you can, if you are just playing around with your camera for pictures to email your friendws, you can use a lower resolution.

SD cards or any other format digital cards are all reusable.

The think with them is how much the can hold. This depends on the number, quality an size of the pictures you are taking.

so for example you have a 512 mb card
Typically 1 high quality large shoot will be 1.5 mb each(This depends on your camera settings),

So 512/1.5= about 350, now this depends on ur setting on the camera, you can choose to smaller pics insde of larger ( so small is (600x800)ish and large is (2400*1600)ish its all ,different for each camera

And then a small setting would give double the number of pictures you can take before you have to unload it to ur PC

Cheers

You can transfer your pictures to your PC or onto CD or DVD then wipe the memory card as many times as you wish. The benefit of a large amount of memory is mainly for when you are away on holiday and you cannot get back to the PC to unload the pictures immediately.

They are re-usable you just need to store them on your computer's hardrive or on a cd and then delete the pictures in the memory card.
