Obsessive-compulsive disorder is a chronic condition, which means it may be part of your life for the long term. However, psychotherapy, medications and self-care can help you control OCD symptoms so that you can live a normal life.

Self-care steps you can follow include:

-[Sticking to your treatment plan, even if it's sometimes uncomfortable or challenging]
-[Taking your medications as directed and talking to your health care professionals about side effects or other concerns]
-Joining a support group to share experiences with others in a similar situation
-Enlisting support of loved ones who can offer encouragement in tough times
-Learning about your disorder so that you understand the myths and realities
-Avoiding alcohol and illicit drugs as coping mechanisms
-Getting involved in social activities, rather than isolating yourself

Other than that, if you don't want help, then I am guessing the OCD must not be that bad, or it is not disturbing your every day life??? Getting help is really the only way to go in the long run. Short term gain, long term pain. Good Luck. :-)

There is a natural supplement you can take which in clinical research studies has performed as well as the OCD meds - inositol.

Perhaps try inositol (you can buy it a a health food store or vitamin store) and if you are still having problems go see a doctor.

See the link below - it explains what it is, how to take it, why it is safe and includes the research evidence that it actually works.

I really feel that it is one of two things, or both. First, most of the people I know, suffer from some sort of guilt issues...something that someone either falsely put on them, or when they do something bad, they seem to have to start with the rituals, to feel better...if you dont want to go to the doctors, you can first try to find out what it is that triggers you to feel this way for a start, and secondly, try this herbal remedy to see if it helps at all, because OCD is also from lack of serotonin in you..try this first, and then read the support group I have listed below, for extra emotional support...good luck honey,:http://www.nativeremedies.com/ocd-alternative-treatment.shtml

You first have to realize that there is only so much that you can control..Once you have done that there is nothing to be obsessive about. I have control over my getting up in the morning and that is about it. I go to work, get paid, come home eat , take care of the kids and go to sleep. I do my best to control my attitude, but I am a d*ck, so there are a lot of times that I chalk up what someone might call and over-reaction to my being "not a nice guy". Past that, I cant do anything about traffic, the weather, what people say...etc. so I dont bother spending any time thinking about it. Plan for what you can, hope for the best. accept change.. it will happen.

Well you have to change the behavior. This is hard for a lot of people to do without the help of a doctor or medicine, it is not impossible to stop by yourself though. Like if you wash your hands wayyy too many times a day because they are dirty, just stop washing them. Its hard but remind yourself nothing bad will happen. GO against whatever behavior you usually do, and do the opposite

Clean the kitchen, check the locks on all the doors, wash you hands...repeat continuously! You won't have time for OCD after that. After further thought; seeing a Doctor would probably be best!!
