well im 17... and over the past 3 months or so, i have lost about 15 pounds. but before that i struggled with trying to find a diet that worked...for me. you hear different people say OH THIS DIETS GREAT...YOULL LOSE SO MUCH WEIGHT... but it might not work for you. so i got really discouraged after trying about 7 different "DIETS". so i gave up and gained almost 10 more pounds... until one day when i woke up and decided to do something my own way. I weighed myself, wrote it down, and every couple days i kept documenting it...the BEST time to wiegh yourself is in the morning, wen you have nothing in your stomach... b/c throughout the day your fluid and contents levels are different, and vary from day to day. Just try what I did, Watching closely what you eat. I ate much smaller portion sizes, and healthier foods. Fruits and vegetables are very good for you, so try eating more of those, and fruits fill you up moreso than other foods. Drink PLENTY of water, b/c water helps your body function and helps flush your body of the wastes and toxins, but it also will give you a more "full" feeling if you drink a big glass of water every time you go to get something to eat... that may help with not eating so much. Then try to find some form of excercise that you like. Whether its taking a nice long walk with your ipod, jumping on a trampoline, jogging, going to the gym, try to engage in at least 30 minutes of vigorous excercise EVERY day and with a healthier portioned diet, you should see that this approach will hopefully work for you! To help reduce the flab, try doing some light weight lifting, toning. this will help build and tone your muscles so that your not seeing flab, but toned areas. But remember, muscle weighs more than fat, so if you think that your not losing any weight, keep in mind that if you are lifting some, you might not lose as much weight, but you will be giving yourself a healthier toned look, and you will still be losing the fat. crunches are also great for your stomach... but GOOD LUCK! i hope this works for you, and if not, i hope u can find something that works for you! Its hard, VERY HARD sometimes... but hey, if u need a day to just take a break, don't feel bad... i've had days where i completely go off the diet track, but don't let it become a habit....

You are young and you know, it will be a lot easier now than when you are older. You have to look at what you are eating and that doesn't mean just meals. What are you having for snacks? Are you having chips? Eat multigrain (baked) crackers instead. Calcium helps you lose weight. (seriously!) So drink a low-fat milk and eat hard cheeses. Eat a lot of fruits and veggies, they fill you up but aren't high in calories. Watch out for empty calories, you don't want to eat processed food that makes you "feel" full but won't actually contribute any nutrients to your diet.
As for exercise..you need to do a combination of cardio and muscle training. The cardio will help you lose the weight fast. The point is to get your heart rate going but you should not be panting and out of breath, you should be able to carry on a conversation with someone else (or yourself!). The muscle training also helps you lose weight because muscle burns more calories than fat so the more muscle you have the more calories you burn on a daily basis. The muscles will make you look more toned. If you lose all kinds of weight too fast that is when you get flabby skin..you are young enough that your skin is still very elastic though.
Good luck!!! Don't give up..it takes time to lose weight (and it's not as much fun as gaining it..no ice cream!) but it is totally worth it.
PS..change your hairstyle or wear some new clothes while you are doing this. Make yourself feel pretty and you know it will make you feel better about yourself as you lose weight.

At your age and with the amount you plan to lose, I doubt you will have any extra flabby skin. Your skin is probably still very taut with good elasticity. I wouldn't worry about that flabby skin thing just don't go about losing weight in an unheathly way.

I wish everyone would give good answers, and not just any answer to get their rating up. I've said it many times on here and I'll say it again. To lose weight, you must burn more calories than you eat. If you eat 2,000 calories, you must burn 2,200-2,300 to lose weight. You can burn 2,050 calories if you want, so long as you are burning more than you take in. Yes cardio will help, but for 15-16 year olds, they are gonna go running everyday, without consulting a pre-runners guide, and still eat McDonalds for breakfast, Burger King for lunch and Dominos pizza for dinner and get depressed because they are GAINING weight. Losing weight is a math problem:2000-2300= -300 calories. Simple. Good luck!

Eat Right and EXERCISE. Cardio will help you get the weight off and strength training will help you tone up. At 16 your skin is still very elastic and you shouldn't be left with too much flabby skin. By shrinking your entire body, you will shrink your stretch marks.

Great Question. I would have to agree, with losing the weigh slowly and lifting weights. I am working with a personal trainer, and he says that is the only way to go.
