Good Question. Maybe it could be dumb luck or Coincidence, but saying it's in the bible and stuff like that is not really an answer and trying to force someone to pray just isn't an answer. Sometimes prayer works sometimes it doesn't, so it sort of fits the category of luck/coincidence. I am not sure I can help much with this >_>;. This also makes you wonder does God listen to all of our prayers,or does he not? To tell you the truth, I think the religion has many loopholes, but it doesn't mean I don't believe, I'm just sort of skeptical.

I think one of the main benefits of prayer is that its calming effect clears the mind of the person doing the praying, and allows for them to see more clearly ways in which to resolve their problems. It relieves stress, provides comfort, builds confidence, and just makes a person feel better all around. This gives a person strength. When you are calmly able to face your issues, the solution appears right in front of you.
The same effect occurs in the person for whom another is praying.
Sometimes, prayer does seem to move beyond sheer coincidence. There are many examples of seemingly miraculous cures for people suffering devastating illnesses, of receiving unsolicited help in a desperate situation, etc.

yes it was rightly said, it is more than a dumb random luck or coincidence..
according to me it follows this chain..
if you have faith and you pray to anyone.. it gives you a mental peace that there is something or someone to help you....and in that peace of mind you are in a better situation to think of solution of your problem..
and in a situation like head or tail... and makes you viewer of the situation, it makes you mentally strong enough to face the result.

I believe that prayer works when I pray to God and not to the saints or the virgin mary. My prayers don't get answered at all. I think God just listens to what I'm saying and will just give me the strength and wisdom to fulfill, on my own, what I have prayed for.

Sometimes prayer/spells works but it's totally due to the "belief" and mind strength of the asker, not an outside source.

Prayers are a way of communication to God. Without prayers, God do not know how much you love Him, as He love you. But He will know what you are doing, cos, He is the Almighty One.

Neither of your opinions works for me. However, I defend your right to them.
Prayer works for me because God answers my prayers, not always as I want them to be answered, but He answers them in a way that is best for me in the long run.
There is nothing "dumb" about it.
What I DO think IS dumb is making fun of others' beliefs and being unaccepting of those who do not agree with you. Don't you agree?

More than likely dumb luck or coincidence. There's not one iota of proof that prayer works under any scientifically controlled testable condition...
Wishful thinking is exactly that.....

people pray when they are mentally frustrated and not able to give more fight in that situation...but it is not the solution... if it works they believe it and become more dependable on prayer... but if you don't pray and leave the situation as it is you will get the same result..the only thing you need is passions and braveness.
