They are "God's Chosen People".
Oops, that's what the Jews claim.
Most religions claim that theirs is
the only one that you go to heaven by.

You were told wrong by your friendly so called Christian friend and he/she should go back and do some bible study to find what the bible really says. One thing is you are very correct when you say Hell is not so hot when you burn forever throughout all eternity. Nowhere in the bible does it ever say anyone will burn for eternity in Hell but only that the results will be forever. There is no eternal life outside of Jesus. In 1 John it says that if you have the Son of God you have life but if you have not the Son, you do not have life. Opposite of life is death, plain and simple. In Romans it says the wages of sin is death, not eternal burning in Hellfire. Hell is very hot and will melt the very Earth with its intensity as you will find in Revelation as well as other places. True, the Jews were the chosen people but they chose to go the way of the pagans so those today that go to Heaven will be spiritual Jews but everyone has to make that decision for themselves which way they want to go. Now on the subject of those that were not exposed to the truth and did not know the truth of what the bible said, nowhere in the bible does it ever say that only a certain few will be in Heaven. As you said, what about the ones that never got a chance to know or learn? God takes that into account and HE will be the judge, not us, of who will make it to Heaven and who won't. Never did He ever say that any one group other than those that reject Him, will not be there at all. I believe in a loving God that has compassion and knows the heart and judges the heart. Those that never got the chance to know about God, that had other gods and did not know that was wrong, will still have a chance as they never knew better. As in Acts, God winks at it as they just did not know. Now the question is or should be, would they have changed their position if they had known better? God knows for sure and many would have but I am sure some would not have as well. Those that would have, had they had the chance to know better, I believe will be in Heaven and get the chance to know the True God of Heaven and learn what is right. Some of the most Christian people that ever lived are those that knew nothing of God or Jesus but their heart was in the right place and they will make it where a lot of the so called Christian people will be on the outside and will burn in Hell, the one that is so hot that it will burn them up and leave them neither root nor branch. Mal. 4.

Originally the living entities(us, the eternal soul) are all part and parcel of God and are related to Him just as sons are related to their father.
Of the human species, most are uncivilized, and out of the few civilized species only a small number of human beings take to religious life. Out of many so-called religionists, most identify themselves by designations, claiming, "I am Hindu," "I am Muslim," "I am Christian," and so on. Some engage in philanthropic work, some give to the poor, and open schools and hospitals. This altruistic process is called karma-kanda. Out of millions of these karma-kändis, there may be one jïänis ("one who knows"). Out of millions of jïänis, one may be liberated, and out of billions of liberated souls, one may be able to understand God.
Understanding God is very difficult, but one who understand Him, he can enter in the kingdom of God. And that opportunity is available to everyone who has a human form.

Fear is a major cornerstone behind some religions, it is used to gain converts and to keep members.

"God is all merciful and all loving," but on on the condition you follow a particular religious view. Otherwise this all merciful and all loving God, "will send you to hell and torture you for all eternity."

The duplicity and irrationality of some religions.

Accept Jesus and we'll have all eternity in heaven to solve this huge issue. I guess Jesus knew he had to die for us to live forever, and He knows everything.

I trust in Him! Christians teach that individuals need to be "saved," but from what?... from sin, temporal suffering, AND eternal suffering!

In Christianity, the human problem is sin, which not only causes suffering in this life but could lead to eternal suffering in the next life. The solution, then, is salvation.

Salvation is made possible by the life, death, and resurrection of Christ, which in the context of salvation is referred to as the "atonement."

Why ... because all is not well in the world. God said to Eve "You will surely die". Jesus died for our sins to allow us to live forever, with Him, in Glory!!!

The Bible doesn't say Christians, God says Believers. He directly tells us that unless you believe in his son Jesus Christ you cannot enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. Our good deeds are just part of who we become once we as Christ into our hearts.

I should add that the slave masters might have said they were Christians but that didn't get them into Heaven. God tells us that sin cannot enter Heaven. Those salve masters who abused the salves sinned against God's creation. No, I don't think for a second they are in Heaven.

The bible does not state that. But it does say God loves all people and that He wants us all with Him for eternity. Certain Christian denominations ( protestants)like to claim that only Christians are going to heaven, but this is not true. Anyone who believes in God (Jesus is God) and follows His commandments has a chance at salvation and eternal life. God is the only one who can judge what is in a persons heart and soul. Jesus told the Apostles to go out and preach the word and to baptize all people,He did not say go out and preach the word only to Christians.

We keep forgetting that no one merits Heaven on their own. God can't be picked from a menu in addition to our works in order to gain our ticket to Paradise. That is cheap belief and yields nothing more than hubris and holier-than-thou attitudes.

God dwells in inapproachable light in heaven. Anyone who sees God dies. Only those who turn from sin to Jesus in faith can enjoy fellowship with their Maker and Savior and Lord.

It's an opinion...
If you'd like to say that you're going to Heaven too,
by all means, do it.

You have just as much opportunity by your beliefs
as they do. ...

Only God knows who will be in heaven. We are only told to seek the truth. The Native Americans may have worshiped Christ...we don't know, only God knows. He certainly isn't going to send someone to hell for not knowing. It's really only if you know the truth of Christ and reject it. You know salvation is through Christ and that he died for you sins and you turn your back on him and on his mercy.
