or do you find that most people say one thing and do another?
it seems to me that as a rule at best lip service is rendered to their beliefs as a means of being accepted by others-is a same as the world would be a much nicer place if people would practice what they preach== thanks for any answers and hope you all enjoy the day

I think most people try to practice what they preach, and fall short as often as they succeed.

Not just Christians, but everybody.

I remember trying to give up smoking, one of the hardest things I ever did, and I would tell people time and again not to smoke cigarettes all the while being a slave to the damn things myself.

I was preaching "don't smoke" because I didnt want others going through what I went through to give up, and sure, you might say it made a hypocrite of me, but at least I knew what I was talking about.

There is a fine line between trying to walk a mile in someone else's shoes and telling them where they should put their feet. In the end maybe intention and action are as important as each other.

Yes. most people actions match their stated belief. If you are not in the true church you would not practice what you preach. Romans 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Romans 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

rhetoric often does not match fact or policy when it comes to politics, but you have look at obama's mentors, who schooled him in Alinsky (who went to church too). It does not get to the truth to just say "he's a Marxist," etc. (Marx would consider Obama to have been quite regressive in bowing to Mecca's Royal guardian). Obama's speeches and policies are no surprise to the power structure on either side. And yes the people who consciously strive to adhere to doctrine have reason to be upset with their leaders at such a confusing situation.

Every one falls short of the glory of God. The point is if they are trying to practice what they preach. I follow Jesus's example in what ever I do but sometimes I mess up and ask for foregiveness.

We must mortify sin not justify it to be a Christian.

drastic measure calls for drastic action.
Belief doesn't matter anymore if chosen action is necessary for personal sanity / existence.
Action against Belief will just fall into the category of sin. If you don't want to sin, adjust your belief.

the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. i would say as a rule we tend to think the higher thoughts of the spirit but live out the baser thoughts of the flesh. and yes i am a christian.

I do my very best to live as I believe. I make mistakes. Don't we all?
Hopefully, most people try to do the same thing.

Thanks for asking.

Most believers say that gossip is immoral, but they stil do it and then find excuses such as "god forgives everything" (I'm not inventing, it's really been said)
I'm not talking about everyone, but 70% or more of the believers I met on this forum. You do the math

Personally I have never met a christian that practices what they preach.
They are, apparently, wholly incapable of living by the self same rules they constantly try to shove down other people's throats.
