We got a new windows vista, and, (this has nothing to do with my question, but), DO NOT buy it. Worst system ever, when its not freezing every 5 minutes trying to protect itself, its throwing free trials that you don't want right onto your desktop. Anyway, about importing. We have a olympus Camedia 3.2 megapixel camera, and a plug-in cord for it. You plug it in, and, up until today, a nice little screen comes up asking you what you want to do. Today, I plugged it in, and nothing. We have a 51-in-1 adapter as well, so I tryed that and still nothing. One last time, I plugged it into the printer, and, big surprise, nothing. I tried another type of chip, and that doesn't work, either. Please help!

Look in the Device Manager,it sounds like the USB driver has failed. Right click "My Computer" and look in the left pane. If the driver is ok, then open My Computer and then plug in your flash memory and see if a new drive letter appears. If so, then just click on the drive. It should be your camera memory.
To eliminate the "User Controls" right click "My Computer" and click Properties. In the "Systems" window, click "Secruity Center" (bottom left). In the "Windows Security Center" window, turn off "User Account Control" That will stop that "Permissions" window from popping open every time you click on something.
Vista isn't as bad as it first looks. It is a resource hog so be sure to run plenty of ram. With Basic a gig is minimum, Home Premium and above you should run at least 2 gigs.
It's also a good idea to open the "msconfig" utility and turn off some to the stuff that is now loading when Windows boots.
I've been running Vista ever since it was released and have had no problems.
