By accepting Jesus' death and allowing Him to enter our hearts; we become ' saved.' I prefer to say, " I've come into a personal relationship with Jesus." Being saved isn't a one-time experience. We need to walk daily with Jesus. Attending Mass often, gives us grace to stay close to Jesus. Partaking of the Eucharist, brings Jesus into the center of our very spirit and allows Him to reign within us, guiding us into a life centered in Him.

Truth is, WE ARE SAVED! The very blood that saved that man witnessing on the street is the same blood that has saved you and me! As Catholics we are Christians saved by the blood of Christ! You and I have been reborn by water and the Holy Spirit in baptism. We are fed with Christ's body and blood in the Eucharist. We receive the gift of the Holy Spirit in the Sacrament of Confirmation. We are SAVED and don't let anyone try to tell you that you aren't!

This is what we believe in so how can you say Catholics are not saved?

Nice post Tigerlily but it shows in some answers just how ignorant and immature some so called Christians can be,I can only suppose that they are under the power of Satan himself and are so venomous in their hatred of the true church that they are decieved and so continue to decieve others too, this is evidence of the kingdom of Satan residing in their hearts.

Of course we are saved. As is anyone who believes that Christ died on the cross for our sins, rose from the dead and will come again. Catholics believe this...we state it at every Mass.

But the second part is so true and often missed by the fundamentalists. They think being "saved" is the end, where it is really the beginning. It is the start of a journey in which reception of all the sacraments continues to refine and hone us spiritually. We are on a path, following Christ. We need to eat his body and blood as he commanded us to. He tells us, without doing this you cannot have life within you.

The fundamentalists, for some reason, believe that they alone can personally and infallibly interpret the scripture. They have only their Bible and their own (very fallible) ideas of what it means. Catholicism has 2000+ years of sacred scripture and sacred tradition handed down from the Apostles. That is very strong.

Pray for people like CJ. They are blinded by their own arrogance and pride, Satan's most valuable weapons.

All the things (rituals) you speak of will have absolutely no meaning if You don't accept that Jesus Christ died for your sins and then was risen to sit at the right hand of God. Also accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. The mass of people that say they believe in God and Jesus are just talking the talk. The ones that are truly blessed with the Holy Spirit and actually do talk and listen to God are few and far between. These are the ones that are walking the walk, and all those rituals that you mention are just that, rituals. They don't make you a believer or fill you with the Holy Spirit. GOD BLESS!!!

Mark 101112,

“DO YOU BELIEVE.... in the Complete Authority of the WORD OF GOD.... over that of the Catholic Church?”

What is YOUR definition of the Word of God? If you say it is only His written Word then you would be in opposition to Scriptures that teach that His Word is contained in divine Sacred Tradition of which the Bible is a part. The Catholic Church teaches the entire Word of God and is testimony of that Word which cannot be separated from His Church. Jesus created a Church which is the Catholic Church which in turn wrote the Scriptures under the inspiration of the Spirit with the authority given by Christ. The Church was here four hundred years before the Bible and approved it for teaching under the authority given to the Church by Christ.

"1Timothy 2:5) For God is one, = and = there is = one Mediator = of God = and of men, = the Man Christ Jesus,

And YET... many Catholics... PRAY TO ... MARY...! "

St. Timothy was right, you are wrong. How one could have been a former Catholic and not understand the communion of Saints is beyond comprehension but I will explain. Catholics do not pray to St. Mary believing that she will grant their prayers. We only are asking her to pray for us just as we would ask anyone else for their prayers. If you have ever asked anyone else to pray for you, you are just as guilty as you claim Catholics are in seeking St. Mary to pray for us. If you have prayed for anyone else, you have been a ‘mediator” and usurped the authority of Christ by YOUR definition.

“You call a... " Priest " Father... do you NOT ?
The Bible Says.....
(Matthew 23:9) And call no one your = = father = = on the earth, = for One is your Father in Heaven.”

... the WORSE OF ALL...... The Catholic CHURCH.... In Every ONE.... HAS.... " JESUS ... Still on the CROSS....! "

St. Paul explains it better than I:

(1Co 1:23 DRB) But we preach Christ crucified: unto the Jews indeed a stumblingblock, and unto the Gentiles foolishness:

For someone claiming to have been a Catholic you know little of Catholic beliefs. Please take heed to the following:

(1Ti 4:1 DRB) Now the Spirit manifestly saith that in the last times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to spirits of error and doctrines of devils,

In Christ

Ill answer simply since many have written out long answers, but are no less correct in what they are saying.

It doesnt matter if your Catholic or otherwise. If you do not have faith and belief in Jesus then you are not going to go to heaven. All the communions, baptisms etc will not save you if you do not have faith and believe. Im not saying that your not supposed to do these things as well. but one without the other will not help.

Depends if they have 'heard' the gospel and responded. Before I was genuinely saved I used to go with my parents to an anglican church, going through the motions, looking the part and so on. They certainly preach the gospel in catholic churches, but with perhaps not so many pointed evangelistic messages as in some protestant churches.

1) 1) CJ knows nothing about Christianity. He only knows how to tell people they are going to hell. He is a hater.

2) A Catholic, when asked if they have been "saved," should give the proper BIBLICAL response: "I am redeemed by the blood of Christ, I trust in him alone for my salvation, and, as the Bible teaches, I am working out my salvation in fear and trembling (Phil. 2:12), knowing that it is God's gift of grace that is working in me."

Some people promote a very attractive idea: All true Christians, regardless of how they live, have an absolute assurance of salvation, once they accept Jesus into their hearts as "their personal Lord and Savior." The problem is that this belief is contrary to the Bible & constant Christian teaching.

Recall this Scripture: "If we have died with him [in baptism; see Rom. 6:3-4] we shall also live with him; if we persevere we shall also reign with him" (2 Tim. 2:11-12). So, ff we do NOT persevere, we shall NOT reign with him. In other words, Christians can forfeit heaven. Jesus tells us, "He who endures to the end will be saved" (Matt. 24:13; cf. 25:31-46). Ergo, if you do not endure to the end, well........

The Bible makes it clear that Christians have a moral assurance of salvation (God will be true to his word and will grant salvation to those who have faith in Christ and are obedient to him [1 John 3:19-24]), but the Bible does NOT teach that Christians have a guarantee of heaven. There can be no absolute assurance of salvation. The Bible says, "See, then, the kindness and severity of God: severity toward those who fell, but God's kindness to you, provided you remain in his kindness, otherwise you too will be cut off" (Rom. 11:22-23; Matt. 18:21-35, 1 Cor. 15:1-2, 2 Pet. 2:20-21).

Note that this includes an important condition: "provided you remain in his kindness." It is saying that Christians can lose their salvation by throwing it away. He warns, "Whoever thinks he is standing secure should take care not to fall" (1 Cor. 10:11-12). , Paul admitted that even he could fall away: "I pummel my body and subdue it, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified" (1 Cor. 9:27). In saying this he points out that even he cannot be infallibly sure of his own present state or of his future salvation.

As a Catholic, when someone asks me if I have been "saved," I answer: "I am redeemed by the blood of Christ, I trust in him alone for my salvation, and, as the Bible teaches, I am working out my salvation in fear and trembling (Phil. 2:12), knowing that it is God's gift of grace that is working in me."

<> Oh mama! This ought to be fun. <> Too late. I'm reading, and responding to, one right now. <> You do that. <> Not necessarily true. While atheists have a huge problem on their hands, as they do not believe in the existance of their Creator, it's wrong to generalize all atheists as lacking morals. There is a large group of pro-life atheists out there, campaigning for a ban on abortion. It IS morally proper to be against abortion, for unbelievers as well as believers. <> This does not make sense. How can someone hate something they don't believe even exists? <> Catholics do not worship Mary. She is venerated. <> I waive my turn, you won't listen. Even though I had the grace to tolerate your opinions, you won't even try to consider mine.
