Although I don't accept the way that the Jehovah's Witnesses accept Christ Jesus, and the trinity,..they do break the Bible down better than most groups do. You might take a study with them, they do have a way of teaching the Bible for what it is. Many people hate them, but they are actually hating the Bible,..as the Witness's stay pretty true to form on the translation. You could also take up some theology course in college..but the main thing is, you can pray to God, but know this, that unless you accept His Son, Jesus Christ as the Son of God, the Messiah, and our Savior, God will not hear you prayers. You need to be baptized, and the Lord will protect you, love you, and lead the way. Stay focused, don't let anyone steer you wrong,..study study and pray,..you make God and Jesus so happy, by your comments here today. Pray for Them to open your eyes..God helps those that help themselves.

If you are serious about seeking out a higher understanding I would suggest staying away from a church. Satan has already entered in to the sanctuary and his lies have been spread around for centuries. It is almost impossible to get the true meaning and fulfillment of the intended written word of God from any church now a days. The church has become passive and reluctant to teach real meaning. Often they cling, latch on to new comers just to add to their coffers. A true teacher of Gods written word must have the knowledge and understanding of the ancient scrolls, texts, idioms, cultures and customs of the languages spoken and used at the time. Most ministers, preachers, pastors, popes and the like only have a rudimentary understanding of Latin or Greek and maybe a smidgen of Arabic most likely non at all. They don't have the slightest understanding of the original languages the bible was written in Hebrew, Chaldean, and Greek. Not only this but they don't or can't teach on different levels of understanding. Beginning, intermediate and advanced. For these reasons I urge you to study on your own with a teacher who does know and understand the afore mentioned guidelines and goes into explanations of why things work the way they do. Visit: http://www.shepherdschapel.com Find yourself a King James Version bible and a Strong's Concordance (Hebrew, Ancient Arabic, Greek dictionary). The Shepherds Chapel can be heard via the internet, shortwave radio, satellite TV, cable TV, regular TV in some area in the US and Canada. The spirit be with you brother and God bless.

Christianity is NOT based on how well you know the Bible (although it certainly helps!). Christianity is based on believing the Gospel that Jesus Christ died for your sins, and asking Him to be the Lord of your life. This do, and you will be saved.
In common Christian parlance, a 'newbie' Christian is called a 'baby Christian' and we do NOT expect babies to be very knowledgable. Get into a good Bible Study, and church. If you wish, I will be glad to recommend a good church in your area. You may contact me by email, or PM with the name of the city you live in, and odds are I probably know a good Pastor or Priest in your area.
May the Lord bless your spirit, my son. +

You watched the Passion of Christ? Christianity is something you can't just "take up" like a hobby or joining a club. Some of these so called Christians that have gone to church their whole lives do not have the spirit of Christ in them. I can not cause you to be a believer in a few sentences. I recommend you attend a good Christian church. Do you have any friends who are Christians? Seek out counsel from a minister. Learn about the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. You have to be drawn by the Holy Spirit of Jesus before you can be a true believer. Learn what the Holy Spirit of Jesus is and you will understand what I am saying. God bless.

Becoming a Christian is not about walking into a church suddenly gaining all of this knowledge. Any true Christian would never laugh at someone who wants to become a Christian but doesn't know that much about Christianity. Like I said before: becoming a Christian is not going to a church or decided that Christianity is you new religion. It is more than that. It is about repenting of your sins and letting Christ control your life. Here is a site that I think may help. God bless and I am praying for you!

You can safely assume that the people in the church are patient and understanding. The good church will be much happy to accept a new person who is willing to learn more about Christianity.
However, to make yourself more comfortable, you can start reading the bible, and in fact in Luke 18:16-17 the bible said,
16But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
17Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.
It means that even children without understanding can be saved, as long as you believe.
We are all children in the eyes of God, so take your steps to believe in Him (it's the most important thing) and you may go to church to add more to your understanding of Jesus.
PS. There are many resources in internet available for your thirst, you can read a lot of information there, ex. http://newchristian.gospelcom.net/.
God bless u.

It doesn't matter at all that you don't know all the famous names or have never been to church. Get hold of a Bible and read the Gospel of John to start with. And find some Christian friends, your age, with the same interests to mingle with. If they are sincere in their faith they will welcome you without looking down on any 'lack of knowledge'. Christians aren't like that!
If you feel the need to get to know God, it is because he is reaching out to you.
God loves you. : )
Edit: I just remembered that the daughter of Bertrand Russell, a well-known atheist, wrote a book about her own search for God after having been brought up in an atheist home. Maybe you'll enjoy reading it. I don't remember the name, but a library might be able to help you find it.

I think you'd HAVE to not know anything about Christianity to want to become a Christian. And that gives you something in common with virtually all practicing Christians.
Oh, I kid the Christians, but seriously. When you mention the "uneducated, illiterate guy off the street," you might as well be talking about the typical church-goer. Church is not college...lol. All you have to do to "fit in" at church is let yourself get caught up in the emotionalism and sentimentality of the religion. It requires absolutely no thought, I solemnly assure you. That's what people like about it!

Please do attend a church service. Go to a local Baptist Church. No one at all with laugh at you for never having been to church before. Christianity is all about sharing your faith in God and belief that Jesus Christ was real and he died for our sins.
I will pray for you that God really touches your heart during that service to stay after and speak to the minister or someone who starts speaking with you.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Please google "The Beatitudes" and read those... I think you'll be comforted enough by that to know you will be welcomed with open arms.
