When we are in dispair, we consult astrology and there are many methods. They say that the present suffering is either because of the performance of the current birth or the previous birth or by the curse of someone. And the happening coincides with the cycle of planets influencing our lives. It is a bit mathematical and art.

Coming back to the karma of the previous year, it a record of a past event, attached to one's soul, which has taken a re-birth. If there was any wrong thing done, and it is told by the astrology ( like you had killed a child by oversight when you were riding your horse) the remedial things are also prescribed.

In simple terms, one can undo the wrong things of the past once he is aware of doing good things to the society around, rather than simple rituals. One can save others from misery or atleast abstain from causing misery to others. here only the karma starts- we do not know - when we throw a rotten bread on to the road, it is consumed by a poor and he dies. Instead, he could have been fed with a normal food. To bring in awareness of NOT doing wrong things even unknowingly, we need lot of emphathy and wisdom.

Each and every person has to reap the benefits of Past Karma. Good actions result in favourable results and bad deeds in unfavourable results

In a way one can say this aptly described in Newtons principles. Every action will have equal and opposite reaction.

One who ,understand the Karma theory does not worry too much when he had to face adverse situation as he understands the reason behind and accepts and will not repeat such karmas during the present birth.

The results of past karma one has to experience and no way to avoid or mitigate.

You are responsible for everything you have done up until this moment. The only way to avoid the karma as you call it, is to be forgiven by the blood of Jesus the sacrificial lamb, that died for all of our sins. Without His redemtion there is no avoidance, you will face judgement. When you are attoned by believing it, God puts it into forgetful seas never to be remembered. Don't ever think you can handle seeing yourself coming back at you for long. If God is not on the seat of your heart, it will be a horrible event.

Yes. Actually God is least concerned with what you did in past. The main thing is that you do keep a good company. You have good motives before hand and it is enough that you have realised having done wrongs in the past, it is a sort of repentance. It would do you/us a lot good in this as well as next birth if there is any in store for you/us.

Better do not think of the past whether it is your previous birth or present. From this point of time do not repeat the deliberate blunders you have done as your conscience knows those.Repent for it.Be good Do good.As Shakespere said 'Above all to thine own self be true'.It is very difficult to practice even what is said above.Only such things we should think and do for brtterment.
More than enough.

Karma is threefold: sanchita, prarabdha and kriyamana. Sanchita karma means "accumulated actions." It is the sum of all karmas of this life and our past lives. Prarabdha karma means "actions begun; set in motion." It is that portion of sanchita karma that is bearing fruit and shaping the events and conditions of the current life, including the nature of our bodies, personal tendencies and associations. Kriyamana karma means "actions being made." It is the karma we create and add to sanchita in this life by our thoughts, words and actions, or in the inner worlds between lives. While some kriyamana karmas bear fruit in the current life, others are stored for future births. Each of these three types can be divided into two categories: arabdha ("begun, undertaken;" karma that is "sprouting"), and anarabdha ("not commenced; dormant"), or "seed karma."

Though it is true that we must work through all aspects and phases of past actions, there are ways of becoming excused from the punishments that drastic actions of the past impose upon the future. These ways are grace, sadhana, tapas and atonement through penance and the performance of good deeds, thus acquiring merit which registers as a new and positive karma, alleviating the heaviness of some of our past karma.

To break free of this wheel of karma, you must have a strong, one-pointed mind. Your only key to help you attain this one-pointedness, this steadfastness, is your devotion to God, your devotion to the realization of the Truth.
