I'm driving a Toyota Corolla Altis. Will driving 140 to 150km/h hurt my engine in any ways? other than the increase in fuel consumption? I've tried at that high speed for fun for about a min or less. FYI, It's top speed is about 185km/h. I'm quite new to engine stuffs, please pardon me. = )

Think Altis can go 140 without a problem but you might be putting your life and other road users life in danger.

Traffic cameras! Speeding violations. And car control. I would suggest you take it to the track go to a performance driving school. Really learn turn in apex and throttling out of the turns. Drive with a instructor and I bet you buy something a little more stable at high speed. Toyota Corolla would not be my first choice for high speed driving without lowersprings sway bars and better tire and wheels.

Sustained high speed driving will accelerate wear and tear on any engine. That's why NASCAR stock car engines need rebuilt so frequently. Another thing that's hard on a motor is quick acceleration. That being said unless you plan to run a 500 mile race the limited amount of high speed driving you may be contemplating won't harm your engine enough that it will be a problem while you own your car.
