If it's 16v it will have two cams, 8v single cam.

If it isn't in the owner's manual (or service manual), you can unbolt the cam covers and look. The tops of the valves are visible under the cam cover. Each valve will have a large spring around it.

This must be a UK auto. I believe the majority of US autos are 12 volt unless it's a hybrid or golf cart. Most people would just count the cylinders/plugs to tell if it was a 4 cyl or more. Of course that is NOT the voltage.
