There are two culprits - nature and humans.
Ever since the birth of the planet it's either been warming or cooling due to the complex series of cycles that both Earth and the Sun go through. We have a good understanding of these cycles so we know at what periods in time the planet should warm or cool and by how much.
We're now in a warming cycle that commenced 18,000 years ago, for the last 10,000 years the planet has been warming extremely slowly and will continue to do so for many thousands more years (extenuating circumstances excepted).
The essential difference now is the rate of warming, global average temps are rising many times faster than anything that has ever happened before or can possibly be explained by natural events alone. Not that this is a surprise as we know how and why global warming (and cooling) occurs and in essence all we've done is to accelerate natural processes.
Our atmosphere has the ability to retain heat, if it didn't Earth would be a lifeless rock floating in space. This heat is retained by the Greenhouse Gases. For millions of years their levels have been relatively constant, varying between 190 and 280 parts per million by volume. Largely through industrial processes we're increased levels to 386ppmv and this can only mean one thing - increased heat retention.

Global warming is a natural cycle of the earth humans can neither remedy or contribute to it. I don't care if you believe me or not . search the Net and make your own conclusions. This subject is nothing more than a political tool for Idiot politicians. Al Gore is an Idiot to. by the way the same people that are shouting global warming just 30 years ago were shouting about an eminent Ice age.

I would say it's the sun. I blame a little of it on the suns that blew up and left radioactive isotopes floating around in inner space before the earth formed. They are heating us up from the inside.
And to be quite honest and straightforward, we are in a natural cycle of global warming right now, plus the sun is getting slightly brighter over time overall. So it is not all us. Our largest contribution is through the greenhouse gas CO2 from burning fossil fuels. But volcanos release much more than we do, as I understand it.
While this is true, it would not be a disaster without humans piling straw on the camel's back. We are going to seriously Bush things up. It's probably too late now to get away clean. What we need is international agreement to stop freeing the stored carbon. Then we probably need to start re-fossilizing plant matter or find some other method of removing the carbon.
Out of all the humans, America is the worst, on a per human basis. But we're so fricking cool that it's okay.

i think human...because, people have had invented a lot of machines and high technology to make human life more comfortable...hence, they also make pollution for what they invented....so, of course human themselves is the culprit for global warming...

People who live like royalty. You know, Al Gore, Pelosi & assorted limosuine liberals. They have huge carbon footprints. Don't forget the liberals who block nuclear power - using more of that would reduce global warming.

Natural cycle. When the last ice age ended there were NO SUV's, no factories, no Buba and his monster suv. No fossil fuels being processed to burn in internal combustion engines. Freeze and thaw is the planets two natural cleansing seasons. It has to happen to renew our natural resources. Man can't start or stop this cycle anymore than we can stop our four season annual temperature change. It just takes thousands of years to complete the freezing and thawing of our planet.
