I first thought it is probably steel wool, but the coloring is off.

Maybe it's the inside of a tangled wire, with the rubber coating stripped off?

Or maybeee it's a sparkler with prolonged exposure? Although I doubt that would work well with a lens made of paper. Haha.

Just a guess. Wonderful photo, by the way. Resourceful as well. :D

fhotoace:

"BUT do I really have to put a CF card in my Canon XTi? I mean after I spent all that money, I shouldn't have to know anything about photography to get pro quality pictures."

What is WRONG with you?
What have I done to you? I don't even know you.
Who does this? Why are you talking about me on someone else's question? How childish can you be?

Really...

Are you jealous or something, because I'm sure an editorial/sports/glamour photographer such as yourself can afford nice things.

You must have NO LIFE. Honestly, you're pathetic and I'm sorry people like you ruin this service.

Some sort of copper wire?
Hair?
Dental wire?
How many guesses do we get?
Love the photo, BTW!

EDIT: Could it be Christmas tinsel?
