Today I had the wonderful experience of seeing a donkey, a shetland pony and a Llama all together in a paddock [ yard] and was able to hand feed the donkey and pony. The Llama was more cautious but allowed its photo to be taken quite close up. I would 'swear' it was smiling. What a pity this site does not have photo capability.

Just a few days ago when I was chewing on a piece of t-bone steak. I was raised to believe that it is rude to stare while eating. Animals and A-1 steak sauce make for an enlightened state of joy.

Animals are so pure and honest. They know how to listen to their instincts.

I used to have this pet squirrel named twitchy. I found him near the woods that I like to visit and play in. My sister and I had to wake up every 3-4 hours to feed him. He sought protection and security from me. Every time he got scared he makes a mad dash to be in my arms. Eventually he got old enough to want to go back to go the wild. I had to take him back to the wild with the help of an animal wildlife rescue. I was so sad, and I kept playing this Cold play tune over and over in my head to keep from crying I forgot the words at the time but the tune was keeping me from thinking too much. As I drove away from the wildlife refuge and turned on the radio and OF COURSE it was on. The lyrics matched so well. I started to bawl my eyes out. Every time I hear "Fix You" it brings back so many emotions.

If I hadn't visited the animal shelter I would have never made the decision to become a wildlife rescue volunteer. Florida's wildlife means so much to me. And I learned a great deal about life through the animals.

Animals are great :) I've got a 2 y/o dog we got from the animal shelter and I love him a lot. Not so much when he gets into the garbage can or won't stop barking but he's cool none the less.

Something tells me my dog is way ahead of me enlightenment wise, he doesn't fret about all the minute details of life that us humans do. As long as he has food, water, and dirt to dig in he is happy, I'm a bit jealous of him.

The last time? Right before I attempted to eat my cat. It took almost an hour because the damn thing wouldn't hold still. Eventually I gave up and let it go.

Getting that close to an animal might not be too good for your mental health... I'm no expert, but that sounded kinda creepy...
