MY price is very excellent at 5500 and i told them over the phone my lowest price is 2-3 hundred less. Does this mean there gona come over expecting the lowest price? whats the poitn of having a set price then? also, they are latino and dont speak to much english, if i cant get a friend to come over in time to translate all the specs. what should i tell them abou tthe car when they come to see it. and any tips for not getting my car sold for a low price? any help would be appreciated. if your price scares people away maybe its not excellent. check the autotrader website to see what other cars like yours are selling for. if they can get the same car for 3500 youll never sell it.

as for getting it sold, make sure its washed nice and clean, and looks tip top. ive sold cars before. people are dumb, they only care how it looks and how it appears.

If you've said that you're lowest price is a few hundred dollars less then they're going to expect to pay that lowest price. The set price is about what you'd like to get and as a starting point for how much it'll sell for.

As for your idea about a Honda engine somehow being superior, for the price you're asking it's not going to matter very much if at all, those who buy in that price (at least the smart ones) buy based on condition of the car and it's service history, not what brand the car is.

This is an easy answer. If people are calling you for the price then it means you don't have your price listed in whatever venue you are using to advertise the car. BAD! If you don't advertise the price with the car then you are wasting everyones time, especially your own. You will get a dozen phone calls from people hoping you are an idiot selling your car for $200 for every qualified buyer.

Exception: if you just have a For Sale sign on your car. If that's the case, spend the $30 or whatever to get it listed in the newspaper or internet WITH the price, and get it sold quick without a bunch of wasted time talking to tire kickers.

The buyer will most certainly expect that $300 that you offered to be knocked off. He'll start his negotiations with that as your first offer and try to lower you from there. Remember that in negotiations you can always lower the price, but after you lower it, you can never raise it back up. The best that you can do with that buyer is make the $300 off you final offer and refuse to budge.
