Making love can last for several minutes or hours. You make love with your heart, if you just have sex it is strictly for pleasure. Lots of foreplay is taken place when you make love to someone. Lots of kissing and touching and exploring another's body is making love. Wrapping yourself around your partner after you make love afterwards, cuddling, soft moans and words when you say, "I love the way you do that to me..."

Just having sex could have a strong chemistry between you two, and just have sex right away, and achieve an orgasm and that would be it. You may scream out your partner's name and you are usually faster just having sex. Sometimes they just leave or get dressed right after sex...

Making love is probably a more slower pace, where couples can take the time to go over each part of the body and appreciate it, whereas having sex is more to satisfy the need to have sex.

It goes with the feelings involved and the intent. When the intent is just a sexual experience, no matter how good, its having sex. When feelings are involved, when it goes beyond just the act, to the emotions, then its making love.
And its possible to have both, at different times, even when in a relationship.

If the person loves you and you love them and he only wants to do it if you're ready..then it's more like making love. Those feelings are what happens no matter what you are doing. Sex is just fast and uncaring and you won't feel so loved when it happens. Making love is a sensual sexual experience between two people who really care about each other. You just have to know in your heart if you both care for each other. If you don't want to do it, he'll understand if he really cares. Hope that helps.

When you make love to a person, you have all the above that you said and there is also passion. Love making comes from the heart, mind and soul. Plan old sex comes from that place below, with no real meaning, feelings or attachments.

Making love = the partners say they love each other and fornicate.

Having sex = the partners just get into the act of fornicating.

End of the day, both are fornication, of course, by different names!

I define thus:

Making love WITH her, is when my pleasure is based on her pleasure. I don't get off unless and until she does.

Making love TO her, is when I only care about my pleasure. Once I get off, it's done, no matter if she has or not.

Personally, I'll take mine With, every time. Otherwise, I might as well masturbate.
