Now a days most hospitals have PATIENT REPS that take all the complaints, so that one charge nurse can't cover up the complaint. The Director of Nurses is so far away from nursing these days you'd be wasting your time talking to her unless it's a tiny community hospital. Call and ask to speak to the Patient Rep dept and I bet you'll get what you need.

However, for complaints against the staff esp a charge nurse should be via these channels of authorities: Nurse Manager, particular Director of that unit or floor if there's any. If none, write a letter of complaint to Human resources. and /or the Hospital Administrator.
All formal complaints should be reported in writing . For the complaint to be valid, you should enumerate the legitimate reasons for the complaints. Be specific in citing examples.

You can go the that nurse's supervisor, but don't just stop there. Also, go to the Head of the nursing department. I would even to who ever is over that hospital. You would be surprise how people respond when you take the time to write. Good Luck.
