I know, you're supposed to get all these different vitamins and minerals. But the thing is, I just don't know what kind of stuff to be looking for. Could I get some examples of different food items, and perhaps help me build a healthy diet?

Anyways, I realize this will take a while for yall to come up with this sort of info, but I really appreciate any answers I get back on this :)

there is what most people consider balanced and then there is what advanced people consider a good balanced diet .
I like to start with good .... modern medical science will admit the best diets are vegetarian and vegan . A high fiber diet of predominantly raw and cooked vegetables with lots of green leafy things like spinach kale collards brocolli lots of salad items such as lettuces cucumbers onions green peppers etc. avoiding saturated and hydrogenated fats especially moderate fruits and whole grains and unprocessed rice rather than bleached processed pastas and breads avoiding meat fowl and fish is heart heart healthy . a gal of water per day is proper hydration for most minimal sugar and no sulfates. the more fresh food the healthier . if you must like myself add some meat and chicken and fish but cut it too a minimum. there are many web sites that give the details of phytochemicals and which vegetables supply them just google phytochemicals and food sources and you will find them . stay away from packaged and processed foods and start reading the fat and sugar contents . usually raw and live vegetables are your best mainstay but with tomatoes canned sauces are best for high levels of lycopene . spinach is tauted by doctors everywhere for it's health benefits. preferably raw in salads but steamed lightly is good too.
