A family member just died and we're all having a hard time. My mom and I got into an argument when I was really upset and not really thinking. I said things that I didn't actually mean but I said them just out of unhappiness, and I told my mom I thought she was being apathetic because she had said she couldn't miss work, etc. I realized I was totally wrong when I started to calm down, and I'm pretty sure I made her feel bad by calling her apathetic. I don't really know how to say how sorry I am to her, so what are some good ways to apologize in a situation like this???

Tell her you love her,and you're sorry! Everyone deals with grief differently. We all have our levels, where we need to do what's best for ourselves, not what's expected of us!

Just tell her! Same as you said!
Take care ,I'm sorry about your family member!

The best way to show you are remorseful on what you did is to prepare dinner for you and your mom. Go out perhaps if you dont know how to cook. Once you guys are at the table, start saying "Im sorry". The ambiance of you preparing dinner or treating her out will lighten the situation and it will be easy for her to accept your apologies.

Sorry about your family member. As the other 2answersers suggested. We all say things we dont mean when we are mourning. Some people cope better when they are get busy with work.

Just come right out and say it to her. Tell her you are sorry for what you said, and you were just stressed out, and that you feel bad that it hurt her. Talk it out with her, remember that people grieve in different ways. Just say you want to talk to her and tell her exactly what you said here, you'll do great.
