My parents are Lutheran. My sisters and I were raised Lutheran. My husband, his parents and family are Lutheran. So yes, I will raise my child as a Lutheran. I will let them do as much "soul searching" and religious research as they want... If, when they are old enough, they choose to give up their faith I would not be mad at them. I would be sad for them and pray for them, but I wouldn't pressure them to rejoin my religion if they truly did not want to.

No of course not no fetters no indoctrination no blinders for viewing the bible but the entire library with the big picture encouraged. I could never lay down on false security or treat children as less deserving of the truth than adults . it's look both ways god doesn't stop the drunk driver or the school bus from running you over .

My mom was a convert to the Mormon Church and I have felt blessed every day of my life because of that. The knowledge and understanding I have of this world and the principles that I live by would not have been instilled in me if she had not made the choice she made. The values I've been taught have served me very well in my life.

Remeber that what might seem rediculous to you, might sounds perfectly well to someone else.

My opinion... be smart and search for the truth on your own.

Peace.

As for the question...well thank goodness mine were not and thank goodness religions aren't in the genes and don't have to stay with you.

this describes my situation exactly. fortunately, i realised that something was amiss in this 'religion' and snapped out of it. so no, of course i wouldn't dare try to brainwash my children into following the 'dumb religion' of my parents!
