Maria, are you aware of God's ten commandments? there it says that thou shalt not commit murder. how is abortion different to murder? psuedo-christians' view are very dangerous to the lives of others and of the innocents. see the problem now?

oneandonlyness, not all, but unfortunately, those who profess the loudest that they are Christians are the people who just love to pick and choose whatever's in favor to them.

Tardis Girl, rationalizing something doesn't make it right. human-beings can rationalize so many things, but there are wrong things that can never be right by just mere rationalizing.

Because Christians are hypocrits. Have you ever notice the bible contradicts itself?

Last time I checked, the bible didn't mention abortion.
It's a modern branch of some Christian beliefs, and is by no means universal. What about the part of the bible that mentions dashing the "little ones against the rocks?" Certainly there are better ways to justify morality than by using circular logic.
P.S. In my opinion, an embryo is not murder, but a collection of less than 100 cells that needs a womb in order to become a fully developed human child. Let's put this in perspective: The majority of early pregnancies spontaneously abort. Every cell in the human body can be cloned into an embryo. If you divide an embryo while still in the womb, a person will get twins or triplets or whatnot. It's a potential life, which carries some moral implications, but do not confuse the components for the product. A sperm and egg are both alive and indistinguishable from a newly fertilized egg -- what makes one murder and the other an acceptable casualty from sex?

it is a very difficult subject to talk about. As a christian myself i am not 100% either way. It does say in the Bible that He knows us from the day we are conceived so abortion it killing the child then. I think that using it as a form of contraception is wrong and should not be done. In a case of rape then i don't think it as clear cut. While it is still killing a child it also would be very hard for that woman to carry a child and bring it up after such a bad experience.
I have know of cases where people have been told that their child had down syndrome and should have an abortion. Two things to say to that, Who is to say that just because the child isn't "normal" it doesn't have the right to live. I agree it would be hard to bring up a disabled child but people do cope. Also the doctors have been wrong and children have been born normal after doctors said they would not be.
Sorry that i cant give you a definite yes or no but I don't think it is that clear cut.

I am a Christian and I cannot understand how a fellow believer could think that God is in favor of abortion- God created that child that is being developed in the womb- so think about it this way- why would God allow a child to be created just to be destroyed? Christians are forgiving not perfect however. Christians are not supposed to lie either, but sometimes we do- we are still in the flesh- however I, myself , can not understand how a Christian can be pro-choice- because it is not right to kill- even if it is someone else doing it. Abortion is an absolute wrong-

Probably for the same reason they think that the military are "Christians". Doesn't it say in the ten commandments "Thou Shall Not Kill"? Isn't that what the military is trained for? What a religious quandry!

With a few very rare exceptions, I am opposed to abortion on a moral basis. However, I am pro-choice on a legal and political basis. The government has no right to dictate medical procedures done on an individual. Once the fetus is viable however, that's a different story.

Yes.. christians are (or are supposed to be) against abortion. but i also think it really depends on the person's convictions. there's "christians" who believe in drinking and in sex before marriage. same with abortion... if they dont agree with it then they wont do it... if they do agree with it and dont feel convicted about it.. then theyll do it. i personally am against abortion and im christian. so i dont know.. theres a lot of people who claim to be christian and they dont act like it... you cant just take their word for it.. especially if they cant back it up.

Because people have the right to there own views, and only GOD has the right to judge others prick. It's ok to believe in God and believe in the right to pro-choice. It's the right of the womans body, and in the case of emergency it's %100 ok to have abortion. Let's see you raise a kid on minimum wage and see if you wish you haven't had an abortion.

It's not against abortion specifically, it just says you can't kill. Some people don't think removing an embryo is killing a person. in the early stages it has barely developed. Also they may not wish to do it themselves, but they might believe it is the right of others to do it. That's my best guess anyway.

Because Christianity isn't against abortion. Not to mention the fact that not everyone is going to agree with or follow all of their religion's teachings. There are plenty of non-virgin, unmarried Christians running around, myself ncluded.
Show me scripture that condemns it and I might change my mind.
