If the blood is from the inside of the ear, then yes. This could mean he has a head injury. If the blood is from the outside of the ear then it depends. If there is a laceration then it more than likely needs to be sutured. However, if it is just a scrape or an abrasion put some neosporin and a band-aid on it.

If there is blood or clear fluid comming from inside the ear then get him there quick. Even a little blood is an indication of a big problum. If it is comming from the outside like a cut no not necisarily. If he is showing any change of mental status he will need to be seen tonight. Check his pupils and if there is any difference at all he will need to be seen.
Best of luck to your bf and you.

You might want to. There's a lot that can go wrong when a person gets punched in the head, including concussion.

Yes get it checked out asap. things like this can be nothing but they can also lead to very serious injuries. Also you can't see why and were the blood is coming for and you need a dr. to tell you

He's probably alright but he shouldn't go to sleep right away and you should check his pupils to see if they're dilated.

If this is accompanied by ringing in the ear and severe headache go see a doctor.

Good luck!
