Their demands for one-liner scientific explanations of issues like Creation, Evolution and the Big Bang don't satisfy them.

If you want a worthwhile scientific understanding of these things, you need to read, study and understand them.

A good start on Evolution would be "The Double Helix" by James Watson, one of the discoverers of DNA. Follow that up with Richard Dawkins "The Selfish Gene" and "The Blind Watchmaker"

If you want to understand the Big Bang theory, then look up the science on Background Temperature Radiation, and read Hawkings "Brief History of Time"

even those books are pop-science, they scratch the surface of what you would learn in a degree.

And even if you reached a degree level of understanding, you would only have a general awareness of the broad issues and some problem solving skills.

So...why are you surprised that one liners aren't getting you anywhere?

There are Christians out there that do believe in Evolution. I think the real question here is why do a lot of Christians refuse to see that evolution and creationism don't have to be conflicting with each other. "God" could be using evolution as his creative tool. Evolution is n ot "just a theory" anymore than gravity is just a theory. When a scientist uses the term theory it means that it has been tested over and over with the same results and that all over the world is it known to be the best possible answer for the issue at hand. Science never ever says that they have all of the answers and they never say the knowledge they have is concrete. Unlike most Christians they are open to change if new information comes in. There are many fossil records to prove evolution not to mention current genetic studies. You can see that evoltion is happening with bacteria in our own bodies, with birds in droubts and many other creatures in only a few generations. To not believe in evolution is to turn a blind eye to the truth.YOu can still believe in "God" and believe in evolution.

Jehoel: The incontrovertible fact that there are lots of, many exclusive denominations suggests that Christians can not agree on methods to interpret the Bible. The truth that there is regarded to be a tremendous change among Catholicism and Protestant Christianity. The incontrovertible fact that a few church buildings argue for identical-intercourse marriage and a few are so anti-identical-intercourse marriage that they spend money on it. The incontrovertible fact that a few church buildings awareness closely on snake-dealing with and an extra preaches some thing else. TONS of proof to aid that declare. To the asker: Even among Christians on R&S, many Christians do not agree on what the inspiration of hell is! To Fireball, "Hell is graves," to David, hell is a fiery pit in which non-his-kind-of-Christian burn, and to a few mild Christians, atheists can hinder hell by way of doing well works. So you deliver up an fine factor: I will NOT pass into any sect of Christianity till they themselves realize with one hundred% walk in the park what God's real Word is.

Are you expecting them to read all that hard stuff?
It's so much easier to believe GODDIDIT.
There you are - it over-rides Logic, Reason and all things scientific - it's fool-proof.
GODDIDIT adequately explains all hard things.
It worked in the Bronze Age; it works now.

[edit]
GMC above me: "Oh, so the best way to get an unbiased understanding of real science is to read two books by a hardcore atheist?"

LOL
As opposed to ONE book that explains nothing more than GODDIDIT.

Told you it was a fool-proof theory.

I do understand and am quite fascinated with the study of human history along with the universe itself.

That being said, to ignore the term "theory" and the giant leaps of faith that science draws upon to validate their theories is not the mark of an intellectual.
