I'm not wanting to get a combined dvd/dolby combo as i want to combine other sources through the amp.

Mainly using it with an optical input from my Sky box.

Any tips?

Hi,
from around £200>>>£3000 you can try Sony,Pioneer, Denon,
Panasonic, & Yamaha. From the cheaper end I would listen to the Sony, Panasonic,& Denon. For the more expensive ones I would listen to the Pioneer, Denon,&Yamaha. I have personally settled for a Sony for my cheaper system and a Yamaha for my dearer system. We all hear things differently so you must at least

listen to a few of them before you make a choice.Good luck, Sky in 5.1 is brilliant

How much have you got to spend?

The best home cinema amplifiers go for around £10,000-£15,000. If you want top quality sound, I'd recommend something from Krell, Mark Levinson, Meridian, Copland or a similar manufacturer.

OK, for £600, take a look at the a/v amps from Denon, Yamaha, Onkyo and Sony. All highly rated, all worth the money.

Another economical solution could be from Sony or Harmen Karden or JBL or may be Boss(My preference)
