When my husband comes home from Iraq, we will be going to visit family. we may be away for 2 weeks. We cannot take our cats with us. We have a friend out here that can come over a couple times a day and feed them and clean their litter and hang out, but it breaks my heart that they will be alone half the time. I can't bear the thought! I love my 2 little guys and i spend every second that im home with them. How do i find a pet sitting service that will take care of my kittys for 1 or 2 weeks? I dont know how to find one. Thanks everyone!

Unless your cats are friendly and outgoing, they might hide from a stranger, so it's better to have someone they know taking care of them. As your friend is planning to visit the cats a couple of times a day, they will be fine. You can always ask her to leave a radio on when she's not there, if you think that might help reassure them.

Look in the yellow pages for kennels pet sitters ect Actually if someone is able to come into your house twice a day, that's plenty. Cats are really smart, lest not forget. As long as the person can spend a little of time to play with them & to give them their pettings ect. Otherwise the yellow pages should have everything or mabe the classifieds in the newspaper. You can always check out the business with the BBB.

I love my cats so much. We go on vacation and have a friend over every other day. I think that having your friend over a couple of times a day is more than enough. They'll be fine. Don't worry so much.

• check your phone book - there may be a pet sitting service listed and they will cater to what you need
• ask your vet if they know of anyone who pet sits (sometimes their techs do it on the side)
• ask your local animal shelter if any of their volunteers pet sit
• ask neighbours or their teenagers, local 4-H group, boy scout group - one of them may have a responsible student that would like to make a little bit of cash on the side by playing with your kitties every day

Ask your vet if they can recommend someone. Do you have a friend or neighbor that can stay with them? We ended up getting to know someone in her 20's working at a video store, we had a good impression of her and her boss gave her a great recommendation. She ended up being fantastic.
Brainstorm, maybe you already know someone who'd be trustworthy.
